#diadelatierra #turismoresponsable #turismoresponsablesiempre #travellove #traveladdict #travelgram #travellife #travel #travelphotography #viajaresvivir #viajar #viajesinolvidables #viajerosoy #viajeros #roadtrip #wanderlust #safarifotografico #safarikenya #masaimaranationalpark #masaimarasafari #kenya #africa #naturephotography #nature_perfection #natgeotraveller #naturegram #canon #canonespaña

Our guide once left his car window open and a lion who was stealthy hiding in the bush attacked him through the open window. Everything happened in matter of minutes. Nature has designed lions as killing machines.
In Masai Mara, if you let your guard down for even few seconds then that could very well be the last mistake you’ll ever make.
Eaten by a lion, that’ll be the story of your life.

Totally chilling and trying not to feel scared as an #elephant charges towards my vehicle in Masai Mara. I had the best time in #Kenya's famous national park but some moments really stand out, like this one where an entire herd of elephants suddenly marched majestically on the same tracks that we had just left from.

A lioness plays with her cub in the warm rays of the rising sun.
A bond that runs deep and fierce, she will do her utmost best to always protect it and keep it safe from harm.

At Ashnil Mara Camp, built on the edge of river Mara, one can see huge crocodiles resting from your balcony. As much as electrical fences are designed to keep humans away from the hungry crocs, still during high tides and rainy season, the crocs do venture in human settlement area.

Grey Crowned Crane

The Grey Crowned Crane (Balearica regulorum) is a bird in the crane family Gruidae. It is found in eastern and southern Africa, and is the national bird of Uganda. These cranes are omnivores, eating plants, seeds, grain, insects, frogs, worms, snakes, small fish and the eggs of aquatic animals. Stamping their feet as they walk, they flush out insects which are quickly caught and eaten. The birds also associate with grazing herbivores, benefiting from the ability to grab prey items disturbed by antelopes and gazelles. They spend their entire day looking for food. At night, the crowned crane spends its time in the trees sleeping and resting.

Topi Antelope.
The Topi (Damaliscus lunatus jimela) is a highly social and fast antelope subspecies of the common tsessebe, a species which belongs to the genus Damaliscus. They are found in the savannas, semi-deserts, and floodplains of sub-Saharan Africa. When pressed, they have been known to reach speeds in excess of 80 km/h although they typically travel at a jog. They are one of the fastest antelopes in Africa.

A Dik-Dik is the name for any of four species of small antelope in the genus Madoqua that live in the bushlands of eastern and southern Africa. Dik-diks are hunted primarily by leopards, caracals, lions, hyenas, wild dogs and humans. Other predators include monitor lizards, cheetahs, jackals, baboons, eagles, hawks and pythons. Dik-diks' adaptations to predation include excellent eyesight and the ability to reach speeds up to 42 km/h. They generally have a partners for life. Legend has it that once an African Rock Python 🐍 killed a female dik-dik and her male partner just stood there in front of the python’s mouth asking it to be killed as well as because his partner was now already dead and they wanted to be together forever.

👍➡️ @surik_peter_madplanet - The King of animals. For the magnificent impression of the male Leo with a mighty mane, the people called this beast king of the animals. How many royal and aristocrats characters have the symbol or the flags with the lion - the symbol of power, beauty and courage! The lion is accustomed to call the king of the desert. In fact, this most famous representative of large cats did not live in the desert but live in the wilderness. It is inhabited by open countryside covered with shrubs and scattered trees.🐾🐾🐾🐾 #lion #cat #bigcat #wildcat #masaimara #safari #wildanimal #wildlifephotography #wildlife #ig_africa #kenya #masaimarasafari #animallove #travelphotography #discover #animalphotografy #exclusive_wildlife #naturephotography #natgeotravel #natgeo #photographer #photography #nationalgeographic #instaphoto #animalsofinstagram #amazing - #regrann

The common warthog also affectionately known as Pumba is a wild member of the pig family (Suidae) found in grassland, savanna, and woodland in sub-Saharan Africa. Although capable of fighting (males aggressively fight each other during mating season), the common warthog's primary defense is to flee by means of fast sprinting. The common warthog's main predators are humans, lions, leopards, cheetahs, crocodiles, wild dogs and hyenas.

The Black Rhinos are so rare that sighting one is difficult but I lucky enough to spot 3 together. Very few Black Rhinos 🦏 are now left in the wild due to extensive illegal poaching and in Masai Mara, the Black Rhinos are under 24/7 armed guards protection due to their critically endangered status. A species native to Kenya amongst other African counties, the black rhino has a reputation for being extremely aggressive, and charges readily at perceived threats. They have even been observed to charge tree trunks and termite mounds. Black rhinos will fight each other, and they have the highest rates of mortal combat recorded for any mammal: about 50% of males and 30% of females die from combat-related injuries.

Leopard knows that I’m watching him and I know he is watching me.
Compared to other wild cats, the leopard has relatively short legs and a long body with a large skull. It is similar in appearance to the jaguar, but generally has a smaller, lighter physique. Its fur is marked with rosettes similar to those of the jaguar, but the leopard's rosettes are smaller and more densely packed, and do not usually have central spots as the jaguar's do. Both leopards and jaguars that are melanistic are known as black panthers. The leopard is distinguished by its well-camouflaged fur, opportunistic hunting behaviour, broad diet, and strength (which it uses to move heavy carcasses into trees), as well as its ability to adapt to various habitats ranging from rainforest to steppe, including arid and montane areas, and its ability to run at speeds of up to 58 kilometres per hour.

A Rock Monitor Lizard 🦎
The rock monitor also called the likkewaan or black-throated monitor, is a species of monitor lizard found in Central, East and southern Africa. It is the second-longest lizard found on the continent, and the heaviest bodied. An intelligent lizard, several specimens have demonstrated the ability to count as high as six in an experiment conducted by Dr. John Philips at the San Diego Zoo in 1999. Philips offered varying numbers of snails, and the monitors were able to distinguish numbers whenever one was missing. People living with the HIV/AIDS virus in Yumbe district of Uganda have been reported injecting themselves with the blood of rock monitors, which they believe to be a cure for the virus. Many are reportedly discontinuing anti-retroviral therapy to pursue this anecdotal treatment. As a result, Rock Monitor Lixards are reported to have become an expensive item in the Ugandan black market, selling for more than US$175 each.
