SHRIMP CEVICHE
3 c shrimp, chopped
1/2 c tomato, chopped
1/4 c onion, minced
1/4 c peppers, chopped
1/2 ea serrano, sliced very thin
3 tbs cilantro, chopped
1 tsp oregano, fresh, minced
1/2 c lime juice FRESH!
salt to taste

Mix everything in a bowl and enjoy! You can have it with rice, tortilla chips or a salad.

Are you one of those people who is frustrated because you feel like you’re eating super healthy, but you aren’t losing weight? It could be that you’re having too much of a good thing — healthy food! Just because a food is healthy, organic, whole or unprocessed doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have calories (nuts are a great example of this!). Do you really need to weigh and measure out all of your food? Well, yes and no. If you have no clue how much you are eating on a regular basis, it’s good to be a bit more of a stickler at the beginning. You will get really good at knowing what a proper portion size looks like after a few times of measuring it out — especially the foods you’re eating on a regular basis. After some time, you won’t need to be so precise, and you’ll be able to eyeball it much better. Tag a friend who needs this information 👌🏽

Este foi o tema do meu trabalho de conclusão da especialização em Mindfulness, uma revisão dos artigos disponíveis na literatura acadêmica sobre o uso de intervenções baseadas em mindfulness em pacientes pós bariátricos. Os participantes das intervenções realizadas eram indivíduos que tinham apresentado reganho de peso e entre os diversos fatores que levaram os a esse processo, encontramos fatores associados a comportamentos alimentares mal adaptados e que não poderiam ser corrigidos por um procedimento cirúrgico, como o comer emocional , o grazing ( beliscar) e o comer compulsivo ou em excesso.

As intervenções baseadas em mindfulness podem beneficiar indivíduos que sofrem destas disfunções alimentares em especial práticas associada de mindfulness e de mindful eating onde trabalhamos e desenvolvemos habilidades atencionais, atenção ao momento presente, resgatamos a escuta dos sinais de fome e saciedade, resignificamos o comer , ampliamos a atenção para o saborear e reduzimos a velocidade.
Entretanto os resultados observados nos mostram a necessidade de um maior numero de evidências e futuros estudos são muito bem-vindos pois está é uma abordagem nova mas bastante promissora para a melhora do comer emocional , comer compulsivo e no melhora da regulação das emoções. Linguini with clams 🙃. I make my sauce super easy: sautéed garlic cloves in olive oil, add chopped clams (in juice), some dry white wine, a little lemon juice, and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. When pasta is cooked toss it in sauce and add a little crushed red pepper and parsley. Voila! 👌🏼

Funny thing....
I use to hate avocados as kid. Growing up, I use to make fun of my mom for eating avocado sandwiches. I thought they were the most nastiest combination ever. Now as an adult, who is more mindful of what she eats, and practices better eating habits, avocado toast is my go to: breakfast and snack!

It’s hard to see that a diet is restrictive when you’re allowed to eat whatever you want - like counting macros or points. On the one hand it’s great that all foods fit, perhaps you learned you really can eat the food you want - Oreos and all - food is just food it’s neither good nor bad, but on the other hand you’re relying on an external source for what (or how much) you can or can’t eat. This can keep us stuck on dieting and a fixation on food and body. Besides, what would happen if you didn’t have your scale?
So how are these diets restrictive?
▪️You stop eating when you hit your macros for the day. Even if you’re starving. Even if you moved a lot more than you normally do that day.
▪️Picking macro friendly food over what you actually want to eat: egg whites, rice cakes, sugar free everything, diet bread, protein cookies/waffles/cake/etc, jello, fat free shit.
▪️Avoiding or significantly reducing meals out at restaurants because it’s not worth estimating macros/points.
▪️Bringing your own meals to restaurants or family gatherings.
▪️Restricting all day in order to go out to eat or drink later. (protein and veggies anyone?)
▪️Using intermittent fasting or skipping breakfast so other meals can be more substantial.
▪️Eating more complicated meals (more than a few ingredients) is so stressful that meals become very basic to be easily calculated (like chicken and veggies, eggs and toast).
▪️Ignoring your body cravings for carbs or fats because you have a lot of protein to hit - even when you have no desire for protein. How do you even know you have the “right split” of macros anyways?!
▪️You cook your family or partner a meal but you make yourself something else that fits your macros/points.
▪️Skipping drinks with friends because they eat up too many macros/points. Or perhaps you order a vodka soda when you really want to join in on the margarita happy hour. I’m not saying you should drink like an animal but if you want that cocktail and you refuse to order one that’s a problem.
▪️**These are just a few, can you think of some other ways that these “all foods fit” diets are actually restrictive??

Often we get so overwhelmed by the all of the things that we “should” do for a healthier life and forget that moving forward and taking baby steps is all that matters. As long as we’re moving towards a healthier life it doesn’t matter how fast we go.

I see a lot of people making the mistake of trying to completely rehaul their entire lifestyle and change everything the same day. This sets you up for failure. You’re very likely to just get stressed, upset with yourself, overwhelmed, etc.

The second mistake I see people make is that they feel they need everything to be perfect and if it’s not perfect then you might as well not try. If one of your healthy habits is to drink a green smoothie every morning and you forget to drink one on Saturday then don’t let that stop you from having one on Sunday. You don’t need everything to be perfect. The most important thing is that you keep going no matter how many times you fall down.

This really is a journey. Intuitive Eating is HARD! At least for someone like me it is. I find it easy to follow rules. Give me a plan! Tell me what to do! But that’s not what Intuitive Eating is about. I struggle listening to my body because I haven’t REALLY listened in so long. .

Tonight, I came home and instantly went to the fridge (a habit I’ve formed over the years.) I took out a bacon dip my boyfriend and I had made and scooped myself a little bowl to eat. As I started eating, I realized I really wasn’t enjoying it. It wasn’t satisfying. I WAS hungry, but not for cream cheese and bacon. I went to the kitchen and whipped this up. I am feeling SO satisfied right now and I know this meal will stick with me for the rest of the night.

3) I talk to my dog like he is a baby and call him any other name but his own
4) my sister and I still love to blast 2000’s hits and drive along lakeshore singing as loud as we can @jacpatras
5) I have had 9 different jobs leading up to where I am today 😂 one of them being a Disney princess for little girls birthday parties @mariescholz @anniemeltrtr
6) My favourite food is a sandwich/soup/salad combo of some sort! I could literally eat it everyday
7) My first concert ever was Hilary Duff and I cried of happiness
8) I am half Greek and half German... although I am interested in doing that genetic testing
9) I cry when I laugh... it may not even be that funny but I still got tears in my eyes @kxmontano
10) I have always wanted a fawn pug and just recently decided her name will be peaches 🍑

I find with the warmer weather I tend to gravitate to a more vegan friendly diet - meat can be heavy and hard on the digestion track - plus spring is a natural time to cleanse and refresh the body!

Breaking all the rules and eating breakfast for dinner cause I wanna 😋🍳

7 DAY SALT WATER FAST (my experience)
Day 1 was a breeze. Days 2-3 we’re not so easy. I had low energy and was pretty irritable. Every time I’d get a headache or lightheaded I would put a big pinch of pink Himalayan salt under my tongue (the minerals get absorbed straight into the blood stream) and I’d feel almost instantly better. After day 3 my Ketonix was always reading the highest level so I stopped testing. Days 4-7 were much easier. I had high energy in the mornings and would slow down around 5. Hunger signals completely vanished by day 4. It went so well that I’ve decided I’m going to make this a quarterly ritual. See my last post for more details!
What I noticed:
•my once eczema spotted skin feels better than it’s ever felt- almost buttery, skin also has a bright flushed pigment •I’m experiencing this mental clarity I’ve never had before- I’m either in the present or thinking one thought at a time instead of my brain being all over the place, no more anxiety
•slimmed down but maintained my muscle mass- a lot of water weight, toxins, and hitting my stubborn fat stores
•have control over my eating- not mindlessly going for snacks
•I just feel all around better, happier, and healthier 🤗

Can’t stop making salmon tacos 🤤 When I’m feeling lazy about a salmon marinade, I just cook it in some avocado oil, sesame oil, and coconut aminos with a little s+p and garlic and onion powder. No measuring, just whips up in a few minutes and has such a good flavor! I cook mine in my cast iron skillet, skin side down first then give it a quick flip. Paired it with some avocado, sautéed kale, microgreens, and kimchi. It’s too good!

Chopped romaine and added chickpeas, radish, cucumber, pepper, tomatoes, red onion and goat feta. Dressing my fave storebought @briannas_salad French vinaigrette. Black pepper and about to dive in. A friend asked me recently, “Do you ever get sick of eating the same thing everyday?” Nope, I don’t because I do a pretty great job at changing it up. I don’t really have much of a plan when I eat anymore. I just make sure we always have protein available and vegetables so that I can do lots of mixing and matching with them. As for carbs and fats those are pretty easy to always have available. 🛒

“I don’t have time,” is an excuse I hear alllll the time from clients and potential clients.

But let’s be real here...”I don’t have time” just means something isn’t a priority in your life.

When something is important, you always find a way to make time for it, no matter what.

When you are not regularly doing number 2 🚽 , (as gross as it is for some lol) it usually means that something is off⠀

Ideally you should be going at least twice a day (but this changes on an individual basis), so when your not, something has to be tweaked in your program⠀

These are just some of the reasons you may be backed up, but I feel they are usually the issue⠀

This recipe is courtesy of my 3 yr who said ‘can we try blueberries, spinach, and yogurt today? Does that sound yummy?’ Why yes it does... Here I blend #organic baby spinach, blueberries, vanilla & honey greek yogurt, #chia seeds. Blend. Serve immediately as a smoothie or freeze for later in popsicle form for some delish #froyo pops.

I'm the type of person who could run through a whole bag of granola reeeaaal fast, so here's my lower calorie, lower fat version that you can adjust based on your own prefs/food allergies. Preheat oven to 350. In a bowl mix together 1 cup oats, 1 tablespoon of coconut oil (melted), a teaspoon of cinnamon (or more based on your prefs to taste), 2 teaspoons of maple syrup, 2 tablespoons of PB2 and a dash of salt. Spread onto baking sheet and bake for about 15 mins (stir halfway). Let it cool and toss in a handful of dried fruit. Other optional add ins are handful of nuts, chocolate chips, banana chips or anything else you think of! I like to use this as topping for yogurt or sometimes just as a snack throughout the day. Store in airtight container for 2 weeks. #nutritionwithmichele
