I sold this beautiful 1960s paisley pattern maxi dress @frockmevintage last week. And I felt quite emotional letting it go. It was one of the first dresses I ever put into my collection when I started and had a terrific story. It was made by our auntie Hilda, a dear relative in Austria in 1969 when she left Austria for the one and only time in her life. She went to the casino in Monaco. It’s been in her cupboard all these years until I started a vintage business and she gave it to me to sell. For the last seven years it’s never found the right owner, the right shape. And then suddenly it reaches out and finds the person that it wants to continue its adventure with (goosebumps). She is now in her 90s, half blind and doesn’t leave the house so the thought of her treasured dress going on adventures for her is very beautiful.
I almost didn’t want to let it go but the customer was so happy. She’s promised to send me pictures and a soon as I get them I’ll post them.
Finding new owners of these precious items is quite in essence why I do I do.....
