When I first met Sarah, I didn’t know how to love a friend and not be threatened by them. I saw friendships as short term and I needed to make myself smaller so that I didn’t threaten my friends. But now, quite a few years later, my favourite thing about our friendship is that we celebrate each other’s wins and we grieve each other’s losses without questioning own worth or beauty.
You’ve probably heard the saying “a flower does not think of competing with the flower next to it, it just blooms”. Every flower is unique and stunning on its own, they are also just as stunning in a bouquet. In fact, when put with complementary flowers, a single flower can be even more beautiful!
People are the same as flowers. On our own, we are beautiful and unique but when we’re positioned in the right group of complimentary people (people who’s strengths support our weaknesses and whose weaknesses are made stronger by our strengths), we bloom and flourish!
Together, with all the beautiful things that we share a love for, Sarah and I make each other beautiful. And when we go through seasons where new flowers are added to our garden, we embrace them, knowing that we will all become even more beautiful.
