BQ ✒ - "I pour a ribbon of wine into a glass. I know what I saw. Bleeding. Pleading. This isnt nearly over"
Summary 📚 - Anna Fox has Agoraphobia, and it's been 10 long months since she left her house. Her favourite way to pass the time is watching her neighbours through their windows. But one day she sees something she was never supposed to see. But who will believe an agoraphobic drunk?
I really liked, but didn't love, this thriller. It was our book club read and I have seen across bookstagram that it has got a lot of hype. See my thoughts below!
1.➖So Anna Fox, the protagonist. I liked her well enough and thought she was a well developed lead character given the nature of the plot. I saw a lot of her "unreliable narrator" traits throughout. I have never been in any sort of similar position (alcoholic, severe phobia), but I did get frustrated with her a lot and felt myself saying "why on earth are you letting this happen " in a few too many places
2.➖ It was a fairly standard paced plot that by half way through had enough unexpected developments to keep me reading. Unexpected twists = happy Beth! I did though guess one of the big twists before half way through which was a shame, and I also found the end dragged on a bit too much
3.✔I did really enjoy the isolated setting. You got to know Anna's house in such intricate detail!! I think sometimes thrillers are so plot/character driven the important details of setting gets missed
Overall, a decent thriller that had some links for me.
