C • A • L • M — Being clam is a superpower. At the outset, you’re like “whaaa? and what’s this got to do with your boxing glam pic?” Stay calm. I’ve got an answer. For the sake of this Instagram caption, think of a fight as a metaphor for a stressful, pressing or unfair situation in any given context. I challenge you to give me one example of where freaking out is the best response to said situation instead of remaining calm. I know, I know, “easier said than done Kath.” You’re preaching to a one-woman choir because I’ve had this conversation (sometimes aloud) with myself many times. My conclusion, as well as yours, should always find common ground. Freaking out is a waste of energy. It’s hard as hell to exercise that fictitious muscle in our brains that bars the freak out. However, just like any real muscle, the more you work it, the stronger it becomes. A fight is such a great example because fighters with a clam demeanor that aren’t shaken by getting tossed around a bit are the most feared. Furthermore, they display a confidence in themselves and their own personal abilities. Superpowers aren’t impossible to achieve. If they were, they’d probably be called “impossible powers.” That’s just my twentysomething cents.
In the face of adversity, employ C A L M as your superpower.
