So we had an AirBnB in Bergen and right down the road was this rad little art shop. They had illustrations, paintings, cards, and the like in the window and I really wanted to check it out as one card especially caught my eye. It was a print of one of the old wooden alleyways. I inevitably check out a lot of photos of a place before I go and then I always keep an eye out for postcards and such when I'm there just to get an idea of the popular sights. Most of the images I had seen of Bergen we're good, but largely uninspired. Except for this card in the window. Their shot was gorgeous. Problem was, the shop was never open. No posted hours and I went back multiple times. Since I couldn't buy this gorgeous image, I opted to recreate it. It took some work, but I managed to find the exact spot where (s)he had taken the photo and I waited an hour to get a moment I was happy with. This is that image.
I feel like recreating someone's vision like this is a big photography no-no and I feel a little weird about it. I wanted to buy their image. but I couldn't ...
I even tried reverse image searching my image to see if I could find who the photographer was, but no luck. So. If you see a photo very like mine here, but slightly better, let me know! I'd love to give them credit.
