Excuses are real easy to make and all of us have been subject to making them. There are a few issues with excuses, but I believe the two biggest problems are regret and guilt. Rarely, if ever, do we make an excuse and feel great about it after the fact. Especially when it comes to health and fitness. Excuses can build and build. Causing us to engage in a vicious cycle of regret and guilt. Sometimes it’s front and center in our minds, but more often than not it’s a subconscious thing. Regardless of being a conscious or sub conscious thought, there are negative effects being placed on our bodies from making excuses and falling off the health and fitness wagon. .
To subside this, fight through excuses. Being tired or not having time is not a viable excuse to skip out on eating healthy or being active. If you’re tired, then take it easy that day. Cut back on reps or walk/run a shorter distance. If you’re short on time, utilize the time you have. Walk during break, do 15 air Squats ever hour, or hit the gym for quick circuit. You only ever need a max of 30 minutes to achieve an effective workout. When it comes to diet just understand that it’s okay to indulge every now and again but it should never be a daily thing. With that, you do not need to be extremely strict with your diet. Eat clean and eat healthy! Avoid sugar and refined carbs and that alone will keep you on track.
I could go on for days and days about excuses and how they negatively effect us, but I’ll end it with this. Excuses are easy, but we are all capable of fighting through them. Health and well being is crucial to a long and happy life. So when that little voice starts brewing up excuses, instead of indulging in it, tell that voice to buzz off and stay on track. .
