I haven’t selfied in a while, and I L O V E this mirror, so here we go!
I am at a work convention with my amazing coworkers this weekend, and it’s been hard. I am away from Emerson for a long time for the first time, and it SUCKS. I miss my sweet girl!
And let’s talk about pumping accessibility! I know it’s amenity that isn’t a necessity, but it’d be so great to have more space than just the bathroom to take care of myself. Thankfully, the staff here at the hotel was amazing and pretty accommodating, but it was still so super difficult. The room I could pump in(that wasn’t a bathroom) was 3 floors down, on the other side of the hotel. Having to pump every two hours(roughly how often Emerson eats), I got my exercise VERY quickly walking back and forth. (spending 12 minutes of my 20 minutes transporting myself, then the 5 minute pump set up and take down added up to a whopping 22 out of 20 minutes I had) I don’t mind the walk, but it’s disheartening to have to go through all those steps, and feel bad for pumping in the first place! I almost decided to not go as often, but it’s not worth losing my supply over.
Another issue that came up was lack of space to store my milk. Our room didn’t have a fridge to keep my stash or a microwave to sterilize my pump parts. Now, had I asked around several staff members, I’m sure I could have figured something out, but honestly, I shouldn’t have to. I used having to dump my milk anyway as an excuse to go out with my girlfriends to have a good time! That way I didn’t have to feel bad for pumping and dumping
Anyway, nursing and pumping mothers deserve a safe, convenient place to feed our children. I’ll step off my soap box now, and if you have a problem with anything I said, I don’t want to hear about it.
