KURA Project student, James, is currently in his second year at Alliance High School. AHS is located in Kikuyu, Kenya and is considered one of the top secondary schools in the country .
James recently completed his exams for the term with results that placed him #3 out of 405 students .
These results are extremely impressive considering his humble background.
James comes from the upper Northern part of Kenya, in a very harsh and dry climatic region at a centre called Korr, in Laisamis District, Marsabit County.
His family mostly relies on relief food from the government and other non-governmental organizations to supplement what his father is able to make through his small business that supports his wife and 10 children.
James comes from a small community called the Rendille tribe who are predominantly nomadic pastoralist people who rely entirely on livestock such as camels, goats and sheep for their livelihood.
Again, we congratulate James for his hard work, perseverance and his determination to succeed.
Providing the gift of education for students like James means the world . It means the opportunity to dream of a brighter future for themselves and their families.
