"You're dressed for sneaking about Dracula's castle. Be still my thawing, dark heart. You certainly know how to make a young man feel alive, Wadsworth." --Kerri Maniscalco, HUNTING PRINCE DRACULA
Short caption for today since I'm nursing the tail end of a migraine. (Always super fun.) HUNTING PRINCE DRACULA was one of my favorite reads last year. I'm absolutely chomping at the bit for ESCAPING FROM HOUDINI. If I had my way, we'd skip summer entirely and head straight to September.
“I was a girl, I learned, who got what she wanted, but not without sadness, not without cutting a swath of destruction so wide it consumed my family. I almost fell into it, with them. I almost lost myself.” ― Anton DiSclafani, The Yonahlossee Riding Camp for Girls
Day 21 for #notyouraveragetitles was longest title and I had decided to go with “The Yonahlossee Riding Camp for Girls” because how long is that title I loved this book. It’s a coming of age story based during the depression where a girl from Florida is sent to a girls riding camp in NC after a family tragedy. •
Fun fact! There was a real Camp Yonahlossee, but it closed in the 1980s.
I paired the book with “The Barns” candle from @novellyyours mapped by “Maggie box,” it’s actually inspired by “The Raven Cycle,” but it smells so good, sweet and earthy, that I felt like burning it with this story as well.
She currently has a “Stranger Things” candle box that will be shipping out next week and you should definitely go order it while it’s still available. You can’t use my rep code: REVIEW10 for the box, but you can use it for your other candle needs.
“That particular take was the one that ended up in the film. So when you see Westley fall to the ground and pass out, that’s not acting. That’s an overzealous actor actually losing consciousness.” ― Cary Elwes, As You Wish
I don't know about anyone else but next time I watch that scene after the fire swamp I'm going to pay closer attention I love behind the scenes stories and the special features on a DVD are usually the first thing I watch, so As You Wish was such a great glimpse behind the camera! It's so fun hearing about the friendships formed offscreen and the little nuances or effects that go into filming certain scenes. Curious to hear from anyone else whose read this- what was your favorite story??
Don't miss your chance to have fun storming the castle! There's only a few layered candles left so visit @novellyyours and you can use my code Katie10 to save
The month is already winding down and that means there are only a few more days to grab this layered Candle of the Month! Have Fun Storming the Castle is inspired by The Princess Bride and there are only 15 left in the shop! Make sure you grab yours soon if you want one! ⠀⠀⠀
I think Westley and Buttercup were my first OTP! Plus I love anything clever and smart like this (which is also why I love Clue — any Clue fans out there?!) and the humor really makes it what it is! ⠀⠀⠀
I also got to meet Cary Elwes at Book Expo a few years ago and it was basically a childhood dream come true! ⠀⠀⠀
Hey guys! It’s almost Friday and this has been a looooong week, cannot wait to sleep in on Saturday!
What’s your favorite book series? Has this changed in the last couple years? I have several and they have definitely evolved in the past couple years Let’s do a tag! Here’s the #toptenfavoritebooks tag!
My parents are going to be here any minute now I’m super pumped! If you missed my story yesterday I may be very inactive over the next week so I apologize in advance for that. I ended up with two copies of the same book from my May book boxes @fairyloot and @litjoycrate but they are both very different. The fairy loot one has stained pages which are stunning and the LitJoy one is signed by the author and has exclusive artwork inside the book. I’m also in love with the character cards that LitJoy included.
QOTD: Which version of Onyx & Ivory is your favourite?
I’m also burning my Life force candle that came in the LitJoy box so my apartment smells nice when my parents arrive. The candle is from @novellyyours
What do you do with candles when they are empty? 🧐
I’m trying to come up with ideas for how to reuse them!
I decided that I really want to do a reread of the Harry Potter books this summer... especially since I never actually read the last two books in the series I know. Don’t @ me. I will read them! ♀️
~~~~~ #wethebooksjune18 - day 21 - favourite summer read - I already know Harry Potter is a five star series for me, so I think it’s pretty safe to say it’s my favourite summer read
~ #firerainboxchallenge - fire and smoke (lit candle) - I took these photos just before going to bed, and I didn’t want to light the candle and then blow it out right away ♀️ so instead I decided to show off the label and glittery inside (swipe to see) of this adorable @novellyyours Fire Rain candle which came in @mirandamarieauthor’s Fire Rain Box
I hope you all have an amazing day! It’s my Friday today, and we have family friends visiting from out of town! So it should be a pretty fun day
This box features a whopping THIRTEEN fandoms where some sort of game or competition occurs. From Red Rising to ADSOM to Harry Potter to The Scorpio Races to Warcross, this box was jam packed with goodies
Swipe to see all that we got!!
The June “Welcome to Hawkins” Stranger Things inspired box is available now and will be shipping soon so grab yours while you can! Brittany does such a great job with these boxes
I’ve really been enjoying designing all of the items for the exclusive themed candle boxes each month! Creating bookmarks, prints, stickers, and more has really been a fun way to be creative in a whole new way! This print was from March’s Mapped by Maggie box and there are still some left for grabs in the Overstock Sale! ⠀⠀⠀
Would you be interested in seeing things like this in the shop on a regular basis? Prints? Bookmarks? Pins? I have a great time creating these things and I’d love to hear if you’d like to see new designs in the shop! ⠀⠀⠀
And don’t forget about this month’s box, Welcome to Hawkins, inspired by Stranger Things! There are still some boxes left and they’ll be shipping starting next week! ⠀⠀⠀
“You could rattle the stars. You could do anything, if only you dared.”
-Sarah J. Maas, Throne of Glass
Showing some love for Queen Maas today I can’t believe it’s been a year since I met Sarah on her ACOWAR tour! It feels like just yesterday we were bonding over our mutual cheesiness I brought my battered UK edition of Heir of Fire for her to sign (my all-time favorite book of hers) and her face lit up. I think she didn’t expect a UK edition to show up, let alone of Heir of Fire she wrote this lovely message in it and I will cherish it forever
Speaking of lighting up, I’m in love with this @novellyyours ‘Rattle the Stars’ candle from May’s ‘Written in the Stars’ @shelflovecrate Box! (Hey y’all, I got it right this time ) It smells like jasmine, rain, black currant, and citrus all topped with a sprinkle of stardust!
QOTD: What’s one author you’d love to meet? Dead or alive! If I could meet either Emily Brontë or Jane Austen I’d be in heaven
*Who is your favorite Game of Thrones character?
️Happy Map Monday!!!!!!️
I absolutely love the television series as well as the books!!!!
I hope we will get more books but I am not sure at this point. I can't wait for the final season next year!!!!
The King of the North candle is by @totallywickedcandles
It smells absolutely amazing!!!
And as usual all my other candles are from @novellyyours
There is such a variety in colors and smells I love it!!!
Mine is definitely the Illuminae trilogy, but the Lunar Chronicles is a close second. I still need to read Wires & Nerve Vol. 2 but I didn't really like the first one so I'm not rushing to continue, unfortunately. ♀️
I’m obsessed with @novellyyours “book Rainbow” candle. It smells so bright and clean like sunshine and rain and you can see how much work goes into it, each color runs separately down the inside of the jar. It looks beautiful surrounded by a rainbow stack, and I feel like it’s the perfect candle for #pride month. I know I recently asked for your LGBTQ+ faves and I can’t wait to pick some of them up.
Who else is still in disbelief that The Illuminae Files has come to an end?! I feel like this series could have easily gone on forever and I would have loved to keep reading it, but I also did enjoy the way it wrapped up. ⠀⠀
Merciful was inspired by this exciting sci-fi series after I read the first book! It comes complete with red dye “blood drips” which are scarily accurate for all three books It’s an interesting blend of ice, leather, cotton, and fire (think in a spacesuit while the spaceship is on fire. Yes, that was my actual through process )! ⠀⠀
Which book of the trilogy was your favorite? Mine is Gemina! ⠀⠀
Let's talk summer romances!! Sadly I never had a summer romance which is probably a good thing because some summer romances seem really complicated! My favorite author when it comes to summer romances is Jenn Bennett! Porter in Alex, Approximately is funny, sweet and understanding. This was one of my favorite stories from last year and got me hooked on reading anything she has published!
What is your favorite summer romance?
This beautiful candle is called Rattle the Stars from @novellyyours
Margherita (classic) - Pride and Prejudice
Hawaiian (book everyone but you likes) - almost all of Cassandra Clare's books and Victoria Schwab's book - they both write beautifully, but their style of writing is just not for me!
Chicago ( book that had the biggest impact) - Wait Til Helen Comes by Mary Helen Downing
Feel free to do this tag! Just tag me so I can see your answers!!
“What could I become if I stopped worrying about death, about pain, about anything? If I stopped trying to belong? Instead of being afraid, I could become something to fear.”
-Holly Black, The Cruel Prince
I sent this to my boyfriend because he likes to see the pics I take and after I sent it I realized that the @novellyyours ‘Autumn Prince’ candle from one of my @shelflovecrate boxes is for An Enchantment of Ravens not The Cruel Prince ♀️ but I liked the picture so why retake it
Anyway, I’ve got a week left until I’m leaving for Wales, and I’ll be honest - I’m VERY nervous. Fun Emma Fact: I’m not a good flyer. I hope there’s free wifi, because I’ll be playing Hearthstone the entire flight (Speaking of, of you play Hearthstone feel free to add me and challenge me!!)
QOTD: Do you get flight anxiety too? If not, what’s one phobia of yours?
Do you see any of your favorite books here?
I haven’t read really any of these recently, but I do remember really enjoying My Summer of Pink and Green! I loved all of the little tips and I loved watching Lucy grow and learn to take charge.
I slowly getting ready for my trip later this month, and there’s so much to do! I need to pack, take a bunch of photos, and write some book reviews. Gah! It’s quite overwhelming!
Do you have any suggestions for packing, not procrastinating, or to stay organized?
• #junebookstagram18: Any ombré
You know those awful, horrible, good-for-nothing days that really just kick you right in the ass?
Yeah, it’s been one of those. And it’s on days like today that I like to reflect upon the characters who have helped me, by virtue of their own resilience, get through tough times. One of those character is Aelin Ashryver Galathynius.
She is, by far, one of the most inspirational characters I have ever had the pleasure of adventuring with. Her resilience, confidence, and power are the traits I draw from to slap a smile on and toss a blade back at life when it tries to get the best of me.
Who are some characters that have helped you through hard times?
"Happy Hunger Games! And may the odds be ever in your favor."
-- The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Good afternoon everyone! I hope you a enjoying your day! I've been continuing my reading marathon. I'm doing so good! I also went through my shelves and culled a ton of books. Now they'll sit on the floor for a day while I decide if I actually want to get rid of them. Ahhhh, such though decisions. I did just place an order on Book Outlet, so I do need to make room for the new arrivals.
Name a book that kept you up all night reading. It's been a while for me honestly. I have to sleep in order to function at work these days. I do remember the first time I read THG though, and reading it all the way through. Luckily, at the time I was behind and could read Catching Fire right away! I did have to wait for Mockingjay to be released. Besides that, Harry Potter always kept me up all night due to those midnight releases.
Hey y’all!!! How’s it going?
I was tagged by the lovely @nawareads to do the #asidefrombookstag!!! Thank you so much!
I love to write and I’ve recently been getting really into baking.
I love green!
Uhhhh Portland??? I don’t know.
FAVORITE ACCESSORY ??? Not sure
FAVORITE TV SHOW
I love The Walking Dead and I’ve recently been getting into a Handmaid’s Tale.
Someplace green with a lot of bookshelves.
I’m currently read Lifelik3 by Jay Kristoff but I might DNF it and start reading AFTG again.
LAST MOVIE WATCHED IN THEATER
Deadpool 2!! It was great!
"Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August."
—Jenny Han, The Summer I Turned Pretty
Omg this candle is AMAZING, the perfect burn for summer and contemporaries and those sweet moments of popsicles and watermelon and pool side reads.
Summer Time Stories smells like watermelon, pineapple, peach, and vanilla ice cream and I literally couldn’t wait to burn it when I got my @novellyyours rep package and it’s only available until August 31st!
Use Rep Code: REVIEW10
I’ve been reading ALL the contemporaries this summer; I’m really excited “Alex, Approximately” which I picked up at the library this week. So far I’ve loved “Emergency Contact,” and “Tell Me Three Things.”
Who else can’t wait for Archenemies from Marissa Meyer this fall?! I know I’m anxiously awaiting its release, especially after the exciting ending of Renegades! ⠀⠀
Each scent in these two candles represent a prominent character from the Renegades and the Anarchists, respectively! The Renegades candle smells light and airy while The Anarchists candle smells edgy and mysterious! ⠀⠀
Grab these two candles as a set or individually! ⠀⠀
While you’re in the shop, make sure you check out the inventory that’s still left from the overstock/imperfect candle sale! Oodles of orders were placed yesterday but there’s still some good stuff left! ⠀⠀
The good weather has finally returned, after almost a week of grey skies and thunderstorms so I'm burning this springy beauty, Luna. I usually don't gravitate towards fruit scents, but this is perfect for Spring/Summer. typically more of a warm, smokey, musky, or clean kind of person! • •
