Of all the prints hanging on my son’s bedroom wall this has to be my favorite. I love the tale of the Ugly Duckling so much because every child in the world can relate to it. Every adult too, for that matter.
Albert Einstein once said, “If you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it is stupid.” The world is full of opinions, judgements and absolute nonsense. There are so many people telling you what THEY want you to be. There are so many messages being sent to our children even at early ages about how they should act, what they should have, what’s cool, what’s not cool, what’s masculine , what’s feminine, what’s strong, how to act, dress, play, be. There are so many quacking ducks! Sometimes it’s hard to blur out the white noise -even as adults - so imagine how hard it is for our children. As parents it’s our duty to guide them in their discovery of self, to help them understand, love and appreciate the the beautiful woven masterpiece of who they are and to encourage them to be the unique, crazy, quirky, stand out from the crowd, individual they were created to be.
Maybe as parents it wouldn’t hurt to remind ourselves while we are at it!
You know what I say? Ignore the Ducks! Don’t let others define who you are. Something to think about. #thoughtfulthursday #ignoretheducks #youbeyou #youdoyou #positivemindset #inspirationalquotes #fairytaleandfable
