I have had a long-standing hate relationship with soy, mostly because more and more scientific evidence shows that the soy we consume today has numerous harmful effects on our bodies. I also do not trust a crop that is poisonous in its raw form (it must be cooked before consumption)😌
The Okinawans - one of the healthiest population in the world - are credited for giving soy its popularity - and they ate a lot of it. Problems is, the soy they consumed is completely different from the one harvested today in the US (second biggest soybean exporter in the world).
Over 90% of soy produced in the US is genetically modified, contributing to a lot of health problems, like destroying gut health.⠀
Soy contains high levels of goitrogens, which are compounds that inhibit the thyroid’s ability to utilize iodine correctly, leading to hypothyroid problems.⠀
Soy contains plant estrogens, which can cause different kind of cancer for both men and women.⠀
Studies leading back as far as the 1970s have linked the consumption of soy products with symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) due to the fact that soybeans tend to soak up manganese from the earth, which we end up consuming.
If you are a big fan of soy, just do your research before buying it. Look for organic, non-GMO brands (like Eden Foods).

What’s your favourite type of exercise? 🚴🏼‍♂️🏊🏼‍♂️🤽🏻‍♀️🧘🏼‍♀️ I often have clients asking me what the best exercise is to lose weight or to build muscle. My answer is always what’s your favourite exercise/ sport?
If we are made to do a sport or exercise that we don’t enjoy chances are we aren’t going to stick with it for very long, we aren’t going to enjoy it and we aren’t going to see results. Instead aim to be active at least 60 mins a day 5 days of the week. This doesn’t have to be running unless you like running (let’s be honest who really likes running!? 😂🙊) This could be as simple as walking your dog, going to the gym, going for a swim, playing a game of tennis or take part in a dancing class. If you aren’t sure what you enjoy try a variety of sports/ exercise and see what works best for you/ see what you enjoy! -

Feeling a bit cheeky this morning..... please don’t take offence, this made me chuckle.

Weight loss isn’t about potions, pills and powders 98% of it is mindset. And by that I don’t mean determination.

Having a relaxed and positive approach to yourself is essential for health. Accepting who you are and what your body does for you every minute of everyday plays a huge part in weight loss. Yes really.

There is a wealth of information to support how positive self talk (psychology) can facilitate health and well being and how negative beliefs about oneself has the opposite effect.

Name calling and belittling someone is perceived as a stressful experience. This leads to the release of stress hormones that can impact inflammation in the body and can impact weight gain and an inability to lose weight. It can also result in low mood, reduced self confidence and negatively impact food choices. This can mean that we end up starving ourselves or binge eating..... If we think about this logically it makes perfect sense. We wouldn’t treat our loved ones this way- being mean and nasty about how they look, so what makes it acceptable to treat ourselves this way?

You are more than a pill, potion, powder. You are more than a number on a scale. You are amazing!!! 💜

A strong posterior chain is crucial for preventing injuries, maintaining optimal posture and overall freedom of movement.
A weakness in the posterior chain can cause over compensation and over use in other areas of the body causing pain and eventually, injury. That’s a no deal from me.

All of us have probably got a ‘naturally lean/skinny’ mate. But have we actually seen what they are doing on a day to day basis?

My guess would be that your friend quite possibly has an active job, as opposed to sitting at the computer, in meetings or answering the phone all day. ‘Naturally’ leaner people may also workout on top of their active jobs, adding to their daily calorie burn. Their metabolisms aren’t any better, they just move more.

The subtle but CONSISTENT differences in activity & lifestyle make it seem that there’s two types of people - Those who stay lean effortlessly and those who don’t. But really it’s a case of those who are active through routine (walking to work, cleaning the house etc) and those who are not active.

Late night training confessions:

Thinking about all the delectable morsels I partook in these past few days.... The sugar and carbs be calling me maneee. 😩 I pushed myself kind of hard tonight as a result... but fact is you can’t outwork a bad diet. I try to keep my cheat days balanced so that I don’t find myself binging. I’ll have tacos and donuts here and there but I’m still snacking on rice cakes, eating egg white and oats in the morning drinking plenty of water and keeping my green veggie and fruit consumption up. I just have to steer clear of bread. I can eat butter toast ALLLL day 😂. Don’t come this page and think I have a strict diet all the time. If I’m not prepping for a show- all meals are fair game. 🍴😋
