Sadistik - Flowers For My Father (2013)
Sadistik’s second full LP is certainly one of da darker albums released dis generation, as after Sadistik would explore topics of depression, romance, addiction, death, heartbreak, mental breakdowns n da world around him all wit a tragic atmosphere to da whole album. As Sadistik pours his heart n soul into an album which seems to be his life after his father passed after his debut record “Balancing Act” n how he’s now in a state of desperation. Da emotion is prominent in Sadistik’s intense delivery in which you can hear da sorrow in, combined wit da beautiful production dat provides suffocating chills as Sadistik spits rhymes dat are very complex, n kinda poetic in a way. Although almost each of Sadistik’s breathes is followed by multi syllable rhymes, he never fails to paint da picture in yo head. Combining both style n substance effortlessly. N if Sadistik’s lyrics or production don’t set da tone da hooks definitely do. As he’s really good at selectin da features in Deacon, Yes Alexander, Child Actor, Astronautalis, Ceschi dat delivery hypnotizin n hauntin hooks which really reflect da mood of da album. N even on his own he delivered da rapid fire, charged hook dat details his lover’s cocaine addiction on Snow White. Dis record does an excellent job takin you through a rollercoaster of grief, n is mos definitely one of da best hiphop albums in dis decade as well as one of my all time favourites.
