OATS: One of my top and favourite breakfasts in the world! Not even going #glutenfree can stop me from craving this in the mornings its funny because for the longest time, I've never tried oatmeal because none of my family members like it.
. Oats can be in instant, rolled, steel cut forms and their nutrients remain intact in all of them. Whichever you choose affects the amount of time it takes to cook them (steel cut being the longest, shortest is instant) and the resultant texture (steel cut has a crunchier one). If you're in singapore, you can get a big bag of rolled ones from @gardenpicks, providing good value for money! If you need them to be certified gluten free, try Bob's Red Mills.
. High in fibre (beta-glucan)
May relieve constipation Promotes satiety, keeps you filled longer
Nutrient dense, contains good amounts of minerals including magnesium, phosphorous, zinc and vitamin B1.
So fun to play around with! Instead of water, I used to make them with milk or Earl Grey tea. Now being dairy and soy free, I use rice milk. Add flavours like matcha or maca powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, frozen berries etc. I typically use a 1/2 cup oats and 3/4 cup liquid ratio because I tend to like them in the balance of creamy and thick. Add twice the liquid if you wish for it to be more soft!
