Today I summited the third tallest mountain in California! White Mountain is my first 14er. Right as we got to the summit, we took our picture and headed right back down because dark clouds started to form above us and thunder was roaring nearby. Before this hike, I started to doubt myself. I started to think “this is going to be hard” and “I’m not going to be able to breathe”. I had anxiety last night just thinking about all the possible ways I wasn’t going to summit. However, when I woke up this morning I was greeted by the beautiful sunrise lurking afar. Something about sunrises just hits my soul, and it gave me the boost to put on my shoes and start the climb. Throughout the hike I still had moments where I had to reassure myself “one step at a time” and also “breathe in, breathe out”. It was hard. Around 13,800 my head started to feel fuzzy but I knew I could do it. With that final push, I made it to the top! 17 miles later, with sore feet and images of cute marmots on my phone, I had summited my first 14er and I’m pretty darn proud of myself” - words of encouragement from @mtnchicks ambassador @courtadventures #mtnchicks #mtnchicksdoitbetter
