#b6556 and my #royalweddingsewalong dress: ohhhhh you nearly ended up in the box of sewing projects that I’m going to work on later but never actually do. It really was a bit of a disaster from the beginning!
First, I had a fabric in mind to use and then when I went to lay it out, I forgot it had an unfortunate incident in the wash. So then I found this fabric in my stash- but there was not enough of it, hence the gathered skirt instead. Pattern: The front notch is troublesome and possibly the way to address it is to trim down the lining piece even more, or remove the notch entirely as I’ve seen some others do. I had to do some adjustments including an enormous sway back, and reducing a lot of gaping around the armholes. Construction: it’s very easy to put together, but ohhhh my: way too much hand sewing for me. Don’t get me wrong, I will happily hand sew for days on the perfect dress, but I really had to push myself to finish this one. Fabric: this was the most troublesome part. @spotlightstores do some really pretty Sateen border prints, but the problem is if you use the border, the stretch then goes the wrong way. So everything was stretching out down my body which is possibly why I had to do a second sway back, and even the front bodice has stretched out too long after about 5 minutes of wear.
Anyway, it’s pretty and I *might* wear it. I would make it again but in a non stretch fabric, probably removing the notch, and (depending how lazy I’m feeling) some feature topstitching
