📚Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome 📚
This is rare compressive neuropathy of tibial nerve, some authors refers to deep fibular nerve compression.
▫️
Many cases are idiopathic (20 - 40%) but there are several cause of TTS such as trauma fracture, dislocation, tendonitis, arthritis.
▫️
Common symptoms is parasthesia (burning, numbness, tingling) on medial aspect ankle or plantar foot. Getting worse with forced eversion and dorsi flexion foot.

El tunel tarsiano es una estructura en forma de túnel fibro-óseo  que se sitúa en la parte interna del tobillo y del retropié. Presenta un techo constituido por el retinaculo flexor o ligamento lacinado, que se extiende en abanico desde el maléolo interno al borde interno del calcáneo, y un suelo que corresponde al propio calcaneo. Somehow I “missed” international yoga day (yesterday) in the bustle of life, despite the fact that I teach yoga daily to my clients 🤷🏼‍♀️ However in honor of the practice that has carried me through many years and transitions in life, has been an integral part of my mind/body/spiritual health and also inspired me to start my own business...

🔺Разминка. Не стоит недооценивать и тем более пренебрегать ей, это как минимум опасно. Перед тренировкой обязательно проводите 5-10 минут разминку, чтобы подготовить и разогреть мышцы для силовой нагрузки.
🔺Интенсивность тренировки нужно увеличивать постепенно и размеренно, прислушивайтесь к организму и не перегружайте его чрезмерными нагрузками.
🔺Новый вид спорта необходимо осваивать под контролем квалифицированного тренера. 🔺Правильная техника и программа тренировок — это залог успеха.
🔺Перед тренировками нужно пройти консультацию врача. Многие считают эту фразу своеобразным клише, но необходимо запомнить, что боли в суставах после тренировок, постоянные травмы, растяжения и подвывихи не являются нормой.
Сейчас существует множество инструментов, чтобы обезопасить себя от травм, чтобы укрепить мышцы, окружающие болезненный сустав или улучшить обмен веществ в суставах и связках, но только врач может назначить и порекомендовать вам необходимое.

I went to the physical therapist recently who gave me a bunch of updated research on rehabbing herniated discs and disc bulges. I was shocked at how different the recommended exercises and stretches were. Did you know bending forward or back can make the herniation or bulge worse? So now I have to shift what I teach in my classes. No more cat cow, child's pose, camel, or anything where I round my back one way or the other. Every stretch and exercise is to focus on stabilizing the core since the lumbar has become unstable from the herniation or bulge. .
I can visualize the instability caused by the disc injury. Can you? .
So...he wanted to test me on whether I could activate my main core stabilizer, transverse abdominus muscle. This is where it is exciting. The serratus anterior is a very important muscle that is often overlooked when it comes to optimal shoulder health and performance. ⠀

The muscle functions to protract and upwardly rotate the scapula and position the arm. This is important to consider, as I often prefer exercises that do both of these movements.⠀
.⠀

1. Push Up with a Plus - The classic exercise for serratus still has some of the highest EMG. It uses both upward elevation and protraction. Create one because you can vary the incline to change the resistance. ⠀
.⠀
2. The Dynamic Hug - A newer-ish exercise with high EMG. Also gets the subscapularis well. It's performed below 90 degrees so may be useful early on in rehab when that is a concern. I perform a variation of this that hugs upward, instead of downward, however I don't have any EMG data to prove that's better.⠀
.⠀
3. Serratus Jab - One of my favorites as I think it coordinates upward rotation and protraction in a really functional way.⠀
.⠀

Whew what a hot and long day! Late night practice call for prayers of gratitude! Happy #internationalyogaday2018 !! Here’s 3 variations on a #backbend: Progressions (knee up, hands bound) call for more eccentric control of the core/hip flexor as well as general stability from the quad/dorsiflexors of the back leg. We spend a lot of time on #crescentmoon #anjaneyasana as western yogis and the simple lifting of that back knee with dorsal foot down can be a great way to avoid simply “sinking down” or “dumping down” into the hip/back. Physiotherapy is a branch of medicine that helps assess and maximise strength, function, movement and over all well being. It aids to repair damage and reduce stiffness or pain, thereby improving the quality of life.
It is a combination of manual therapy, exercise therapy, dry needle therapy and soft tissue mobilisation decided upon by the physiotherapist after careful examination of each individual.

One #kinesiotape application and my patient’s knee swelling has visibly decreased along with some of the redness and bruising. My patient also reported less pain and displayed increased ROM as compared to Tuesday. The little pattern you see may just look like redness left behind from the tape but it’s actually a good indication that the taping is working. Applying tape in that particular pattern with those small strips helps to decrease swelling. The tape creates a space between the top layer of skin and underlying tissue which then creates a pressure gradient so fluid can move out of the affected area and back into the lymphatic system. -Giving a yoga home exercise program to one of my patients (it was indicated..not just for fun)
- Taking a 3 hr nap after getting off work early (basically savasana😏)
- Working on arm balances in my mismatching clothes (yolo) - which I have done so little of these last few months due to that dang thumb
