Gestern hat @stitchwellandprosper den nächsten #westernplaid Block des #pmqg2018bom #quiltalong veröffentlicht. Ich bin ja eher der ungeduldige Typ und konnte es kaum erwarten (vielleicht sind „Block of the Month“ Projekte nix für mich ) Nach langem Überlegen und Ausprobieren haben wir gedacht, dass das die perfekte Gelegenheit ist, einen der neuen #ombreconfetti Stoffe von #vandco einzubauen. Die sind einfach so toll und eignen sich mit dem Farbverlauf natürlich perfekt für dieses Karo-Muster! Wie bei den letzten beiden Blöcken auch, habe ich die Motivgröße halbiert - muss ja alles von den Proportionen her passen Mir gefallen die Muster von @stitchwellandprosper einfach so gut!

Couldn’t stop! Any homespun big enough to cut into 5” squares has been pressed, cut and stacked. Except for two bigger pieces I will save for a border. Lunchtime. Had to set a timer because I’ll sew through meals when I’m in a groove.

#igquiltfest day 7 and 8 are the same for me. Stacks are what’s on my cutting mat!! It seems like endless stacks of 5” squares I’ve been cutting first from shirtings, and then from plaid flannels. Both for scrappy plus quilts. The shirtings will be for me. No sooner had I built that stack and my 19 year old son chose a plus quilt as his choice for a quilt to take with him to university this fall! Great minds and all that... maybe they’ll make it to the design wall tomorrow. . And then, of course, there’s the baby tumblers and the not quite shirtings. .

Das zweite Muster des @portlandmqg Block of the Month wurde vor ein paar Tagen veröffentlicht, der „Herringbone Twill Block“ (awesome block,@stitchwellandprosper!) und ich hatte natürlich nichts besseres zu tun (ähem!), als meine Version zu nähen. Ich hab die Streifen allerdings etwas schmaler gemacht, damit die Stufen ein bißchen weniger „pixelig“ sind. Die Stoffe sind aus den Moda-Kollektionen #olivesflowermarket und #modernbackgroundsluster. Ich find‘s gerade echt doof, dass ich einen Monat warten muß, bis es weitergeht :-(

Shirts cut for the memory quilt I’m making. I’ll be creating log cabin blocks so I’ll need to further cut this pile into 2.5” strips. I’ve said this before but one of my favorite parts of quilting is bouncing around from project to project. I have a quilt ready to bind, several in the piecing phase, and this one that’s just beginning. Given how emotional this make is going to be, it will be nice to set it aside and pick it up when I’m in the mood. #MJLmemoryquilt #localcolorquilts #memoryquilt #plaidquilt

I finished this quilt top LAST March, but when I didn’t get it quilted before St. Patrick’s Day, I put it on the back burner (it was in plenty of good company there). So, this weekend I quilted it with straight-ish lines, attached the binding, and it’s my second finish for the year! I LOVE the backing print I found at my local quilt shop, @olivejuicequilts...so much so that I also used it for the binding . And now I feel suuper prepared for St. Patrick’s Day 2018!! The pattern is called 9-patch Buffalo Plaid and is a free pattern by my sweet friend Jessica @sawitloveditmadeit. This lap quilt was a pretty quick project to sew up. The #buffaloplaid pattern was made easy by following the instructions I found on the blog of @emptybobbin. For #ufosaturdays this week I'm remaking some HSTs for this one! I originally threw in a dark gray and a medium gray in with the taupes to add some interest and break up the pattern a bit but I'm finding them just too distracting. Last week when I worked on this I got all the string blocks done and got it all laid out! It took over two hours to get it all out on batting with all the HSTs pointing the correct direction.

480 3" HSTs cut and ready to chain piece! I cut these out in just one short evening with a @sizzix_quilting HST die. Quilt is destined to be @quiltville_bonnie's "Wild Child" from her book String Fling. I was not sad last week when I discovered that I had to go to Goodwill outlet and pick up some more red plaid shirts.
