Most people desire a happy, “perfect” life. Filled with people you love, shelter, comfort, all your needs are met, you have things you want as well, everyone is in good health and gets along. However, no ones life actually looks like that.
.
We all have problems and people who pretend they don’t, are doing just that, pretending. You can be happy no matter your circumstances though. Sharing your “perfect” life doesn’t inspire anyone, it only makes them envious.
.
By being vulnerable, sharing our struggles and hopefully the comebacks that follow; that is how you inspire people. That is how you better someone’s life.
.
We all have problems.
.
You are not alone.
.
You can overcome anything.
.
But you must have the desire to overcome it and you have to be willing to go out on a limb, be humble, and learn from others.
.
I love how social media is a place for connection. We can use it for good or for evil. Instead of competing to have a great looking life, focus on community. Community is what we all strive for anyway.
.
I want to offer my help to anyone who could use it. If you need someone to listen, I’m here. I’ve dealt with depression, anxiety, ADHD, PMDD, migraines, stomach issues, bad relationships in many forms, lost loved ones, and lost someone to suicide. I don’t have all the answers, but I am willing to listen and offer any advice if wanted.
.
I want this to go both ways. If you think you have some knowledge that could better my life, I welcome that with an open heart. I would love to learn more from you. I especially love nonfiction book recommendations.
.
You are not alone. It gets better.

Are you stopping to smell the roses today? Or sipping the roses?
_____________________________________________________ in Chinese Herbal Medicine we use Rose, mei gui hua, to regulate Qi. It 1️⃣
Promotes the movement of Qi and relieves Stagnation. This can help Liver-Stomach disharmony with a stuffy sensation in the chest, pain and distention in the rib sides and epigastrium, belching and low appetite appetite.
2️⃣ Moves Qi, harmonizes the Blood, disperses Stasis and regulates menstruation. This can help with irregular menstruation, premenstrual breast tenderness and menstrual pain due to Blood Stasis (will have hard purple clots in the flow and stabbing pain). It can also move Blood Stasis due to trauma- so great to use after an injury.

3️⃣ Soothes the Liver, controls pain and astringes diarrhea. This can treat symptoms of stress, fibromyalgia type pain, and digestive problems made worse by stress. ************** PS. always ask your doctor if you have health concerns or if an herb would be ok for you to try.

Your cycle is NOT a curse- it doesn’t have to be painful... it can be regular, you can have energy and feel great during it... your skin can be clear, it can be seen as a sacred Shamanic time of death and rebirth rather than a hinderance, slowing down your schedule.
.
How?
.
Nutrition plays a big role- there are specific nutrients to eat that support the cycle, as our hormones fluctuate throughout the month.
.
What do we eat, when, and why?
.
I will be sharing this tomorrow in my {free} Goddess Nutrition Webinar.
.
From all the women I have worked with in Menstrual health over the years, I have realized a big common trait- they were seeking ways to develop a deeper relationship with food and listening to their bodies’ needs. Understanding the Menstrual Cycle is key to that wisdom!
.
I’ll see you tomorrow (Sunday 6/24) 4:30pm PST/ 7:30pm EST- Webinar link register is in my profile! 👆🏼

A cup of coffee is how many people start their day. Did you also know that coffee can be used in enemas? I know, I know! Let’s talk about this “taboo” method.
.
When you perform a cleanse with an enema, it helps to remove toxic build-up, which will in turn provide immediate health benefits and relief from certain conditions.
.
If you are new to the idea of enemas, the use of coffee may shock you. However, it can indeed help detoxify your body and remove the excess waste that could be accumulating within your body.
.
How? Coffee enemas may help relieve anxiety and provide mental clarity. Coffee is well known for its antioxidant properties. Many people who perform a coffee enema report a feeling of increased wellbeing and mental clarity, which also helps to provide relief for anxiety. The colon and liver are both parasympathetic organs, which have been shown to play a role in anxiety disorders, meaning the cleanse from the enema helps to promote overall relaxation within your nervous system which helps ease anxiety symptoms.
.
Always check with your doctor if you’re unsure about the effects of a coffee enema on your body, and whether or not it is right for you.

Good day you y'all, my weekly digest: the Power of Three is out on my blog! Read it over your coffee/herbal tea and enjoy 😊. This week I talk women's health 🚺(useful information for girls and boys alike e.g. your girlfriend will be over the moon and super grateful if you help her understand her unique nature and take it under control (irritable and angry girlfriends on their periods IS NOT the norm - instead, the body signals that there might be hormonal imbalance)). I also praise a London- based company, Pale Green Dot @pgd_recycling , that helps make our planet a better less-polluted place♻️🌎. Lastly, I continue my #morethan30plantsperweekchallenge (inspired by Sara Gottfried MD @saragottfriedmd ) and suggest you an article to read so you can join me in (especially useful for vegans🍠 and vegetarians🌽!). I hope you're having a wonderful weekend! Let me know in the comments below how my weekly digest helps, motivates, or inspires you - I'm curious to know ❤️ Be well, Mary xx Link in bio or just visit my blog at www.ihaveguts.net

Hey there! So many new faces round here that it is time for me to say hello and let you know what I'm all about.

1. I believe giving hormonal birth control to treat symptoms is a disservice to women. I'm all about that root cause and empowering you to live an amazing life.

2. I don't believe in judging women who are doing all they can to care for their body. Yeah, you heard that right. As much as I don't like that birth control bandaid action, I also don't believe in judging you for what you gotta do. My job as a doctor is to educate and support you. If you're a hater, take a minute to dismount from that high horse and recognize that your lady tribe needs you fully in your purpose.

3. I lived too much of my life with the belief my body was betraying me. My body loves me. I love my body. Your body loves you. Can you love it already? Do it. Best thing you'll ever do.

4. I'm committed to real talks about your health. I won't promise you'll love everything I've gotta say, but I do promise to always be real with you.

5. I've been in the health and wellness industry for over 20 years. Crazy, right!?!?! I started in medicine about the same time I could drive...and I chose to get a medical education before a driver's license. Now you know I'm a nerd.

6. I was never the cool kid. Nope. I was the nerdy kid. I felt super shameful about my love of science for a great deal of my youth. Now? I own it. I don't give an F if you call me a nerd. It's what I love...and I love sharing all this nerdy goodness with you.

Your turn! Who are you? Where do you come from? Why are you here? How can I help?

Oh and if you haven't grabbed my Post-Birth Control Syndrome Quick Start Guide please do that now. I made it for ladies like you. See the link in my bio @drjolenebrighten

Up side down - right side up ? Where is up what is down ...started my Period yesterday ( t.m.i. I know !!! Sorry not sorry ) and the day prior I felt so unbelievably sad and lonely isn’t it amazing how these hormones make us feel and send us on a roller coaster??? Do you feel like that too ? Do men feel that ? Well I am telling you I was cranky irritable and super sensitive and felt so cut off like this spiritual weirdo that nobody understands that the minute I think and express myself duality just takes over and I am in the matrix and the feeling was so intense and deep ...I got really butt hurt and cried a lot and baaam not a day later big ass shift , I feel so accelerated, very strong , potent and super creative and mega spiritual slash connected slash empowered ...I feel carried and supported by my lovely friends family and yoga community and all Projects are coming together nicely 😊 just wanted to express how grateful I am and blessed I feel and how much I wonder about these HORMONES hahahahaha damn trippie!!! Guys please one thing just don’t say things to her like : “ahhhh you’re on ya Period that explains it”!!!! Or : “I am not gonna discuss this with you -you are on your Period” !!! Last week I realized I haven’t been meditating lately. I’ve been going on walks, praying, reading, studying the Word, eating mindfully - but no pure meditation.
.
It became noticeable to me when I was trying to sleep. Using guided meditations for sleep has been my jam for over four years now.
.
I used to have HORRIBLE insomnia. My brain would become so active at night. Sometimes for good purposes, like studying or cleaning. But usually it wasn’t positive. It was me lying in bed for hours, frustrated that I couldn’t sleep.
.
This week I’ve been meditating at night again and it truly makes such a difference. I can feel tension leaving my body and it doesn’t return as quickly.
.
If you’ve been feeling extra busy, anxious, or in a funk - spend 5 minutes at night solely focusing on releasing tension and relaxing. It could potentially change your life 😉
.
PS I love the app Breathe, it’s free and has tons of meditations. I like this one because it’s super simple and they aren’t trying to do it all. It has a section to “check in”, a section of meditations, and a section that tracks your use. That’s it!

This morning’s workout was 👌🏼. Did I PR? Nope. Did I collapse into the fetal position afterwards? Nope. Did I beat anyone? Nope. So why was it so great? •

Because it was aligned with what my body needed at this exact time 🎉. •

Taking the barbell outside = morning sunlight to naturally energize me ✅. •

An EMOM workout with light weight = matching my movement to my current menstrual phase ✅. (Fatigue is more common in the luteal phase, and it’s actually more difficult to build muscle and use carbs for energy. So intense, heavy workouts aren’t best for us at this time). •

Opting out of a workout in the AC = sweating to support detox ✅. (This is crucial at this point in my cycle and also, it’s just too damn nice outside ☀️). •
Was my workout super impressive? Probably not. But instead of fighting my body like I always have before, I’m learning to be much kinder and more forgiving, working with the changes I naturally go through. And that’s a win for me any day. •

@amandamontalvord and I have been discussing this at length the past few weeks in Body in Balance, and we also created a free guide for you about your menstrual cycle. You can get access to both via the link in my profile☝🏼! •

Do you adapt your lifestyle according to your cycle?

I'm going down the rabbit-hole of research, digging deeper and flushing out what all of this information means for my patients.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In naturopathic medicine, there's a criticism of "specialization" in our practice because we emphasize treating the whole person, while a specialist narrows in on an organ or body system, neglecting the complexity of the whole.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In my practice while I focus on women's hormones, I'm looking at how the entire system affects them-- digestion & metabolism, neurological underpinnings, muscle function, immune regulation... the list goes on.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I zoom in and zoom out, honing in on the little details to take it back to the big picture. I do all the heavy lifting, nerding out on the complexities of medicine, to give you something simple. I give you clarity.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My current obsession is hormonally-related mood dysregulation based on who's been walking through my door and where the information vacuum is seducing me.
I got you, ladies. .

I am passionate about women’s health because I believe the information that most of us get is flawed.
.
As women, we are led to believe that symptoms of PMS and menopause are just a normal part of being a women. This could not be further from the truth and has caused many women to suffer unnecessarily.
.
I want to show women that there is a better way. When you choose to believe that things like painful periods and unpredictable mood swings are normal, you give away your power. You delegate yourself to a life much less than the one you truly deserve to live.

You deserve to live a healthy, vibrant life! Learn more about the services I offer today: http://kendraperry.net/work-with-me/

Topic➡️ Dealing with PMS
PMS, if you haven’t had it you know someone who has, maybe you’ve even been on the receiving end of a PMS Rage monster👹. PMS is fun for literally no one, you get hot, cravings sky rocket, you become hyper sensitive and emotional, and cramps feel like your insides are being ripped out by tiny tweezers that inflict an insane amount of repetitive pain. But did you know that PMS, especially severe PMS is a signal from the body that your hormones are out of balance, mainly that estrogen is in excess? We are taught to believe that PMS is a normal thing and that we just have to deal with the crazy mood swings and cramps every month, but imagine if your PMS was half of what it was now, or even less than that. You could go about your merry way and not be effected at all? #lifewouldbeadream.
.
The fact is that PMS is a deeper rooted issue than the week leading up to your period. It is a result of your entire cycle. So this is going to be a post series (not sure how many because I am not a planner #stayauthentic). So for today I’ll cover some basic tips on how to help the problem while it is happening.
1️⃣Stay active!!! You may not feel like hitting a PR, in fact DON’T, but make sure that you keep your activity level high. Movement helps EVERYTHING. Stress, hunger, and even tiredness, when all else fails go for a walk in the sunshine Vitamin D will benefit you too.
2️⃣Drink water! Your body is heating up at this point in your cycle. Drink enough water to keep your urine a slight hint of yellow, but not clear I recommend Mind at least 64 oz/day unless you’re doing a lot of activity.
3️⃣FUCKING EAT! Our bodies are essentially preparing for pregnancy at this point (even though you’re not). If you’re hungry, eat, BUT focus on high fat (good fat) foods. Hunger is a signal so pay attention eat till satiated and don’t be afraid to eat a little extra. Fatty red meat (iron), avocado, EVOO, nuts, seeds, and eggs, the added cholesterol will regulate sex hormones.

Infertility, PCOS, Irregular Cycles, Peri-Menopausal, Severe PMS... For some women, testing reproductive hormones on a single day is sufficient. In other women, the clinical picture cannot be properly captured without “mapping” the hormonal pattern throughout a woman’s monthly cycle.
Appropriate and effective treatment can be challenging because if is difficult to ascertain how your hormones are behaving throughout the month. Using the Dutch Cycle Mapping test provides our Naturopathic Doctors with the information they need to create an accurate and comprehensive treatment plan that is specific to you!
For more info book an appointment with one of our Naturopaths , (link in bio 👆🏼👆🏼) or call 604-776-2432

PMS got you down? 🤦‍♀️⠀
Any time we have unwanted signs and symptoms with our period and cycle it is a sign from our body that our bodies energy and hormones are out of wack!⠀
And because our hormones are not stagnant they are able to flow and change, they can get better and back into balance (symptom free!) 🙌

First step is to look at what could be causing hormonal imbalance, a short list of possible cuplrits can include:⠀
➕High intake of inflammatory foods eg. processed sugar, gluten, dairy, vegetable oils, processed foods etc. I know all the fun stuff - I don’t make the rules 😜😂
➕Low intake of foods that our bodies need for happy hormones eg. wide variety of vegetables (especially dark leafy greens), healthy fats and protein 🥦⠀
➕Exposure to enviromental endocrine disruptors eg. pesticides, too much artificial lighting at night time (disturbs melatonin production and circadian rhythm), plastics and artifical fragrances to name a few. ⠀
➕Stress. Aside from the seemingly endless list of havoc that stress places on the body, it especially messes with our hormones 😨
➕Recently stopping hormonal contraception. The body has an adjustment period of getting used to producing it's own hormones again after being shut down on hormonal contraception.⠀

The good news is that IT GETS BETTER 🙏Once we identify what your possible factors are that may be influencing your hormonal imbalance we can then take the steps to rectify it. You body desparately wants to be it's most happy balanced version of itself, let's help it get there! 💃

This is one of the top 5 oils I use frequently in my home! Also comes in our premium starter kit! Dm me for more info! Let me help you sign up and change your lifestyle. 1. To relieve immediate stomach discomfort:
Dilute it -one part DiGize and one part vegetable or carrier oil. Then, apply several drops (2-4) on ears, wrists, neck, forehead, temples, or feet. –Apply DiGize to chakras/vita-flex points. Directly inhale or diffuse DiGize.

You can massage DiGize directly to your stomach when feeling symptoms from constipation, gas, diarrhea, or bloating. It is believed that rubbing DiGize on your stomach in a clockwise motion will get things moving and in a counterclockwise motion will it slow things down.

2. Support Your Immune System
When traveling, use DiGize as a dietary supplement. Add 2-3 drops to your drinking water or honey. (Never in a plastic cup.) 3. Indigestion
DiGize has an antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, and antiseptic quality that combats indigestion. Take 5-6 drops in an empty gel capsule after meals or add to your drinking water. When experiencing symptoms related to indigestion, heartburn or bloating apply 1-2 drops under your tongue or apply directly to your abdomen.

4. Eliminate Candida or Parasites
DiGize can be helpful to eliminate parasites for pets and people. When combating digestive candida or parasites, rub on the bottoms of your feet and take 5 drops orally in a capsule as needed.

5. Nausea
Take one capsule twice a day as needed to aid in symptoms of the stomach flu or food poisoning. This works best if alternated with Thieves Essential Oil Blend™️. Place one drop in your hand and rub behind your ears to assist with nausea or morning sickness.

{Hormone Balancing Food Spotlight} Radish goes into my top ten list of hormone balancing superfoods.

Radishes are high in vitamin b6 which supports healthy progesterone in the luteal phase (second half of your cycle) and riboflavin which supports your thyroid.

The pungent flavor of radish comes from the sulfur compounds which help your liver metabolize your hormones and detox harmful endocrine distributors. This is key for reducing PMS! Sulfur is also an important mineral for soft, radiant and glowing skin.
Add a couple radishes to you're salads or just snack on them whole everyday. One tip I learned from @quirksandquarts is to dip them in grass-fed salted butter. So good.

Who's excited to add radishes to their grocery lists?

Many women take a daily Vitamin D supplementation after being diagnosed with love Vitamin D from a lab test.
.
This gets me pretty fired up because I think taking a vitamin D supplementation is a big mistake for most women. It can make your health problems significantly worse and it can throw your entire mineral system off.
.
The problem with vitamin D testing is that the storage form of vitamin D is what's being tested. The 25 hydroxy D is actually a storage form of vitamin D, it's not actually the active form of vitamin D.
.
The storage from vitamin D doesn’t actually tell us what's going on in the body so it's really not a good marker to be guided by with supplementation. You want to be measuring the active form of vitamin D and most labs and doctors have never heard of that.
.
Have you gotten your vitamin D levels tested?

This is what an emotional roller coaster looked like for me this week. I started out needing my “happy” oils (the pink ones on the left), then quickly realized I needed the big guns 💪 of Surrender, Release and Forgivness, then moved to Grounding. Once I was feeling stable I brought into my protocol Hope, Envision and Highest Potential. Now I need En-R-Gee to do all the things I decided that I’m going to accomplish! Clary Sage was my BFF through it all! Oh PMS you are not a friend!
The most precious thing to me about going through all of this was that my prayer life grew tremendously, certain Scriptures were brought out from my memory, and other Scriptures were revealed to me through my reading. I’m so thankful for my God for his grace and mercy and his wonderful creation of plants he provided for our use.

Aunt flow made an unexpected visit last night and the carb cravings and lethargy are REAL! 😫 I’m dragging. So, I’m choosing a high protein, lightly sweetened latté, and a bagel with cream cheese and salmon to get me through and power my workout later. Did you know @daveskillerbread bagels have 12g protein?! 😱

Vitamin B5 supports the adrenal glands, which reduces stress and anxiety levels. Vitamin B9 (also known as folate or folic acid) and vitamin B12 are important in balancing out depressive moods.
