introducing: kimchipapi kompadre. he’s usually happy but he wanted to look like a bad ass here lol. my amigo @mayito_paz aka donaldo used to shop at my old store @atbboston and when I told him about my plans to open a restaurant in 2015, he gave me his number and his word which was, “call me when you open, I will work for you”. fast forward to 2018 and he kept his word. you guys probably recognize him because he’s been involved in the asian restaurant circuit for quite some time. I honestly thought he was going to quit on me a few weeks in because of some growing pains we experienced. it seemed like he was discouraged because we were still in the soft opening stages and it was difficult recruiting people. maybe they’re scared of leaving their comfort zone. maybe they’re complacent. maybe they don’t fux with my vision. donaldo fucked with my vision and has been loyal since the beginning and he wants to make sure @kimchipapiktchn is running like a well oiled machine. the reason for his dedication? he wants to open his own restaurant one day and he believes he can learn a lot from me. I want to educate donaldo and other staff members as much as I can until they’re ready to leave the nest and pursue their own dreams. why would I keep my peoples dumb? that’s that slavemaster mentality bullshit. donaldo has become more than an employee, he’s become a kompadre. we are all dreamers. the world is yours.
