We celebrate Non Scale Victories (NSVs as we call them) in my monthly accountability groups all the time. I always talk about how the number on the scale isn’t important and to focus on HOW YOU FEEL. I know for most of us, particularly women, that’s really hard to do. So instead we celebrate NSVs like being able to do more reps of a move that challenges you, going up in weights, fitting into your clothes better, getting a compliment about how you look. All of these things are about making you stronger and more confident in your own skin!

Well today I was so proud to celebrate two of my own NSVs. Not only have my weights gotten too light for a bunch of moves so I’m going out to pick up some heavier ones today. But I also was able to fit into a pair of pre-pregnancy jeans at #8weekspostpartum after my 2nd baby! Granted they are not my tightest jeans but it made me feel like I was making progress! .
I am not one to bounce back easily from Pregnancy, I know because I’ve done it before. Heck I wasn’t in good shape when I got pregnant which wasn’t the smartest thing to do. I have been dedicated and focused throughout my pregnancy and now postpartum journey and I’m just blown away at how amazing the human body is. I still have a long way to go to get to where I want to be. But it took me 10 long months to grow my sweet girl so there is no rush to get it back.

Such a beautiful day! We ran on our favorite wooded trail then went to the beach so Ezra could crawl around for awhile. One thing I’ve noticed is that I’m having trouble pacing myself since I’ve started tracking my pace. I run too fast when I’m able to see how fast I’m going. And most of my day is spent negotiating with a toddler who refuses to take a nap. Meanwhile I’m trying to avoid getting covered in peanut butter and bribing his brothers to play with him...outside. 😂 I’m 100% certain #ketones keep me from losing my cool every second of every Thursday. If he had his way, I would hold him@like a newborn and let him nurse all day while he did all my work for me, using his feet.

TBT last April when I ran my 1st race (and 1st Ragnar) after having Kekoa. I brought him along for the adventure (an overnight relay race on Oahu’s north shore) with the help of my mother, who also ran on my team. Yes, that’s her doing the fist-pump in the back (and yes, she’s awesome). She watched him while I ran my legs and I nursed and pumped in between. I had a blast running it and would love to do another Ragnar again! The best part was sharing the experience with my son, mother, and @kgurns 😊

I know a lot of these sort of races seem like they are not meant for new parents, but I encourage any new moms/dads considering it, to do it. It may go better than you’d expect and you are already use to the lack of sleep... so that should have no effect! 😉

or fitness trend?? I feel like I have been talking about baby food a lot lately. And not just with other moms (but I'll get there). I make baby food, sometimes. Yeah yeah, you can judge all you like, but just note that about 93.5% of the time, my kids’ diet consists of Cheerios, cheese strings, and food from the floor of my car. Not that there is anything wrong with those choices. I make them while I'm doing my meal prep for the week or cooking a meal. It isn't too much effort and it gives me the peace of mind that my kids are getting some fruit and vegetables.

All the recipe consists of is frozen mixed fruit + frozen spinach + 1 can of pears in water. Heat it up, then blend it. Bam. Done. Don’t ask me quantities because I have no clue. These pouches are re-usable and they are Squooshi brand.

Now for the fitness side of things. I have talked to a few people who like to have these after a workout. Go figure. All I have to say on that subject is that it seems like a decent choice if you want some quick carbs on the go. You do you 💪🏻

Have you ever been just SO TIRED that exercise is the last thing on your mind? That was me last Spring! 🙈 I was an exhausted new Mommy and getting healthy was no where on my radar! But I was just so tired of being tired, something had to give! It’s not pretty, but I’m getting the work done.
Getting into shape is never easy, it brings a lot of moments where you wonder if you will ever feel strong again, but I have to say, this approach without expectations, goals, plans is really helping me to just do my best for the day, and trust that I am gonna surprise myself at some point when I am suddenly in shape🏃‍♀️
For now, just doing one workout a week, keeping it simple, one long run, and 2-3 more easy days.
Today I did 8 x the trail near my house (well, actually 4 x each section). They are roughly 1/2 mile long, but part of my no pressure approach means just starting my watch once at the start of the run, and not touching it again till I get done with the cool down, so I don’t know exactly how long the hard sections were (around 3mins20 by the looks of it).
Slightly faster as the workout progressed, so for now, I’ll take it.🏃‍♀️

Super simple is how I roll right now.

Simple meals, simple stretches, simple exercises, simple hairstyle (#mombun daily ✌🏼)

This is an example of how I incorporate some ✨simple✨ toning for the legs while I prep food, which feels like 80% of my day 😳
.
Tree pose 🙌🏼 Sounds silly, but give it a try. Place the lifted foot at your ankle, calf or above the knee of your standing leg (*note: above or below the knee, not pressing on the joint).
.
The standing leg receives the benefit of subtle toning for the feet, ankles, calves, all the way up to your glutes. This can also help stabilize the pelvis. The lifted leg, turned out at the hip, receives a little stretch.
.
Try this pose while you’re doing some mundane kitchen work, like the never-ending assembly of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches... Hold for as long as you’re comfortable, then switch sides.
.
Since structured exercise doesn’t really happen for me right now, I’ve got to get creative. And tree pose is great for pregnant mommies too!

Hi friends! Back yard photo shoots on self timer are okay right ¿🙃 I have been pretty MIA since my competition last weekend. I took a step back on purpose and just unplugged a little bit. I needed it. I needed time to meditate and think about my next goals moving forward, and sometimes to do that you have to take a step back from social media. So that’s what I did. I took a breath of fresh air. 🌬️ I felt so much love and support on show day, so thank you ALL for that. ❤️ It’s time to come back bigger & better. So for some reason today’s workout kicked my ass. You’d think it would be easier considering this is the 4th time I’ve done this workout. But it was not. It was harder beyond my imagination. Idk if that’s because I drank a little too much last night; or if it’s because I haven’t been eating well; or if my muscles are just DONE from the last 72 days. But what I do know is that I feel so defeated today. 🔸
There was numerous times I just wanted to give up. Stop the workout completely. I honestly wanted to CRY 😭! That’s how much of a struggle this workout was for me. I took my energize preworkout. I got Kiana to nap. But my mind just was not in it. 🔸
I finished though. This journey has not been easy. Today was not the first day I wanted to give up, but it was the first time I’ve felt like breaking down. Conveniently this shirt was on the top in my drawer and I just grabbed it. The universe was telling something. I’m happy today’s workout is done and hopeful I’ll be in a better mindset tomorrow. 🔸
All this to say, know you’re not alone if youre struggling to stay on track and want to give up. Move through it. Your mind is your biggest critic and you have to learn to fight the self doubt. #bestrongerthanyourexcuses .

Seven days down out of the 21 days of Shift Shop 🙌🏻 Has it been easy? No way!!! Has it been worth it?? TOTALLY!!
This is probably the most challenging workout program I have ever done but I’m totally falling in love with it. I love seeing my body changing and feeling stronger after just one week.
There’s no quick fix or easy way out. It takes hard work and dedication to make a change. If there’s something in your life you want to change then take the first step. Keep taking those little steps each day and I promise they will add up to something huge right before your eyes.

#throwbackthursday to 11 months ago.

To a 6 months #postpartum momma of two who was working a full time and part time job, had lost her athletic drive and motivation, and was putting EVERYONE and EVERYTHING before herself.
Yes, I have shared my transformation a lot lately. But that’s because I can’t believe, nor did I ever believe the change could happen! I always believed I would just be the way I was and that it was going to take way too much work to get my “dream body.” AND I share because I want you to know it’s real and it is possible. I am so thankful to have been shown this opportunity myself. It took work, but it wasn’t as hard as I thought. I didn’t do anything crazy or over the top or unnatural. I want you to know what it takes and then decide for YOURSELF if you want the same. Because you deserve that much!

I have the tools to get you there, you just have to ask for them 😀

I remember when I was first researching Keto and trying to figure out where to start...it was OVERWHELMING. I realized Keto was the opposite of everything I had been doing...I was changing from lean meats to fatty ones, high complex carbs to low carbs, from avoiding fats like the plague to embracing them.

Step 1: Change your mindset on what you thought was “healthy” or “unhealthy.” FATS ARE AWESOME Y’ALL. And they DON’T make you fat.

Step 2: Read a basic introduction that won’t totally freak you out. My favorite is here: https://www.ruled.me/guide-keto-diet/
It’s comprehensive, answers a ton of questions, and does so without getting lost in science mumbo jumbo.

Step 3: Review the list of things you should and should not eat on this plan. https://www.ruled.me/ketogenic-diet-food-list/

Step 4: Pick out some recipes you want to try and go shopping! Alternatively, you can start simply with foods you may already have in your house. I think of easy keto meals as 1 protein, 1 fat, 1 veggie. For example:
Breakfast: Eggs scrambled with cheese and spinach
Lunch: Chicken on greens and veggies with oil and vinegar
Dinner: Steak with green beans tossed in an oil of your choice.

Step 5: Drink ALLLLL the water. And add electrolytes. Ketosis acts as a diuretic, so you get dehydrated quickly. When you think you’ve had enough, drink more.

Wanna know what’s funny? When a baby resists sleep so they get overly tired and start crying inconsolably! 🤷🏼‍♀️ K, so it’s not really funny, but that’s real life with a baby for ya! First time ever since Mason’s born that I’ve had some ‘free time’ in the evening (before 10pm)🤗🤗as much as I love him to millions and trillions of bits it’s nice to have some ‘me’ time. Hubby is at football & Mason is asleep(🤞🏼hopefully! He’s having the 4 months regression😫) & I’m sat in bed catching up on YouTube! I’m like 2-3 months behind🙈🙈also leaving myself with 43 calories left! 28 pounds down since I gave birth (yes it took me 10 months) only 22 more to go (yes, it will probably take me another 10 months😂) I didn’t start really losing weight until I went grain free(yes I gained 50 pounds while pregnant, I was eating good lol) I don’t mind how long it took, I’m just happy with my progress so far 😊

☀️ ☀️ ☀️ On the hottest day of the year so far I just had to go for a walk with Ethan in the pram so he could snooze and I could enjoy all the spring blooms and the sun bouncing hazily off the water 🌊 Walking is so great for both physical and mental health and after the first two months post-birth cooped up at home with mostly dark mornings and evenings, I'm loving the brighter days as makes me feel brighter too even if I am still sleep deprived 😴. Plus fresh air helps baby sleep. I like to wear my @vivobarefoot shoes to feel more connected to the ground and walk slowly and mindfully, like a moving meditation. While I have loved having a week off from 80 Day Obsession, I’m so ready for round 2!

Up at 5:15am to nurse baby 🤱🏻, pump and coffee at 5:40am 🍼, start Insanity at 6:10am, toddler up at 6:20, start Insanity back over at 6:30am, finish at 7:15am and then pump 🍼 again, eat, morning chores till baby up at 8:30am and then a busy morning clearing out basement for a renovation starting on Monday, kiddos down for long nap around 12:40pm and mom sneaks out for a run! 🏃🏻‍♀️ it’s not easy still getting in the long ones so when it happens it feels like a huge gift 🎁 🙏 #14weekspostpartum

Koliko je mene sramota da postavljam svoje "debele" fotke... 🙈
Ali hajde malo da se blamiram... štitna i trudnoća su učinile svoje, sada se trudim da se vratim na staro i zato biram da me ne bude sramota.
Ovaj put je prevladalo to da će ovo nekoga možda bar malo da motiviše da se pomeri sa mrtve tačke i začaranog kruga prežderavanja i kajanja 🌀 Kao što mene svakodnevno motivišu mnoge transformacije, velike i male. Ovo je rezultat od samo 3 nedelje, osim kilograma otišlo je najviše cm u struku, i to -10 😄
Zdrava ishrana, puno tegova i malo kardia, (da , neverne tome, od tegova se više mršavi nego od kardia)
Šta ćemo tek napraviti za 3 meseca?! Neizmerno hvala @milicas_fit , najbolja si 🙏🏻 Hvala ti što si jedna od retkih koji veruju u mene, drugima je lakše da kažu da više nemam 25 godina, da nakon bebe ništa ne može da se vrati na staro, ili mi otvoreno kažu da se džabe trudim¿!
