It's been a week since I saw this and some scenes are still as vivid in my mind as the day I saw it.
Funny thing is I can barely remember the scenes from the first part except for how funny Ruiz( Michael Pena) and Scott ( Paul Rudd) were, as a combination.
The sequel starts with Scott being under house arrest & trying hard to be domestic and fun with his daughter. We get introduced to the over serious but funny Asian Detective on Scott's case, bursting his a** about not breaking his parole since he has three days left for his arrest to be over. But since trouble likes Scott, he just had to have a dream about something in his subconscious mind that might help in finding Dr Lang's lost wife and Hope's mother in the quantum realm. This brings him back into the world of being a superhero. And there we meet GHOST ( the not so villain, villain).
Ant-man and the Wasp comes with a lot of surprises. Buildings that can be turned into a suitcase like luggage, cars that can be selected from a candy tin. Work ants that can get stuff done and even imitate Scott's pattern to fool the cops into thinking he was in his house while he was out helping the Langs. Also, Ant-man suits that shrinks, enlarges and grows wings when needed. Plus the right amount of humour and jokes that land well, all of these come together to make the movie unforgettable.
Here are what stood out for me ; 1. A superhero movie where the villain is not interested in taking over the world but just saving herself. 2. The heroes are not in a race to save the universe, just someone they love. 3. Both side, villain and heroes get a win- win. And Scott's daughter was super cute.
As a writer, I appreciate and give honour where due anytime I see works that do this effortless.
In Ant-man and the Wasp, every cast was deliberate & delivered punchlines et al.
Then, I was in love when Marvel put the Marvel touch by making Hope,Doctor Lang and his scientist wife disappear, leaving Scott lost in the quantum realm. JUST PERFECT! In line with AVENGERS INFINITY WAR, even DEADPOOL'S time machine didn't help fix this. ***sigh** By now it should be obvious that I love the movie.
RATING : 9/10 ( VERY ENTERTAINING)
