Today’s workout consited of 30 minute sprints with my big doggo. I love Monday’s because it’s a fresh start to the week. A day to reflect on your goals and what you need to do daily to achieve them. I feel extremely blessed to have the work family that I do, every day we face new challenges but we push each and have one another’s back along the way. They are so willing to learn and teach. We aspire to grow and be better every day. As for my personal goals I set aside “me” time every day aside from work to work on my fitness goals and of course Life happens in between. Got up early for a leg workout before my first day of my internship. Today was mainly logistics and orientation and tomorrow they’re throwing me in with the sharks. So nervous 😬 Anywayssss, spent 40 minutes doing lunge & squat variations, RDLs, & a little ab work.

⚠️ ⚠️⚠️ I am not a fan of the new Alainah Allure design. If I pull up the leggings to high waist level, I get pretty bad camel toe. If I lower it a bit, my belly button shows and I still have camel toe and/or crotch folding. Also, all of the new Alainah Allure colors aren’t true to color at all. Online, the colors look way brighter and pastel-like compared to the actual muted color that you receive. For example, the Herringbone looks as if it would be a pale blue, dotted design, but it’s actually a muted blue-gray pinstripe design. Moreover, the sizing is off for all of new colors. You’re supposed to order your true size, but I ended up having to order a size up because the camel toe was so bad (and it’s still an issue). I really hope Ptula goes back to their old sizing and design. I am trying different underwear and other tricks to prevent the V issues, but so far nothing has worked. Anyone have a similar experience? I guess i’ll have to see if the fit gets better as my lower body grows 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Not perfect and far from where I want to be... but after taking off so much time from the gym, I was shocked to have made this kind of progress!!

Never have I been able to do more than maybe 4 or 5 pull Ups with anywhere from 90-100 pounds of assistance. Before this set I completed 10 reps with 75lbs assistance- here I did 8... followed by a last set of 8. WOW! I’m gonna chalk that up as a win and keep on pushing.

When you start tracking steps again and for some reason it doesn't pick up most of the steps during cardio... 😜 I had no idea where I was actually at since the number was almost the same, but I challenged myself to get the same overall number of steps by end of day anyway. See those two machines with the screens in the background? I like one of them (yes they are different, but I think both are considered adaptive motion trainers) and that's the one always taken by the same guy. 😅 The first one is more of a jumping movement without legs going forward (that makes me incredibly dizzy and isn't as challenging) and second is more like a run but without the impact. Can't get mad over someone enjoying their exercise though. My head and neck have been bothering me a lot, so anything low impact but still challenging is much appreciated. 🙌 I aim to keep my heart rate in the 150's for the majority of my cardio sessions and do steady state or occasional intervals. I also like the stair master, arc trainer, spin bike while standing, and occasionally I run if my joints allow for it!

Looking at the weather for tomorrow and it’ll be nearly 100 degrees... do I want to walk 30 minutes to my first day of my internship tomorrow or take an Uber? 🤔 Rest day today. Getting some last minute things done before starting work tomorrow. About to watch the Brazil 🇧🇷 match in a bit. I’m a little sad that I’m starting work right now because I’m going to miss all the good matches of the World Cup. 😭

It’s a good day to have a good day.

Who hasn’t been dieting yet still has some abdominal striations? To be honest diet had been the last thing in my mind. Some tips I use to keep on track (sorta):
- eat when your hungry not bored
- have some fats carbs and protein with each meal
- drink LOTS of water - keep up with your gym routine, if it’s nice outside take advantage of it
- finally, enjoy you time with people! You can never remake a memory.

I’ve been hustling SO HARD for 8 years now and am finally able to take a step back and be proud of myself for what I’ve accomplished. I work a whole lot harder than my older male counterparts but I also out-earn them too 😉 One thing I can undoubtedly promise you is that you will NEVER REGRET working hard!! Ever!!! Sure, the payoff won’t be immediate and the grind and struggle will become draining at times. But if you stick it out... if you keep proving yourself by consistency in your performance... eventually, you too, will be at the top of your game. -

But for me I want a strong core more than the looks of it because your diet needs to be on point with clean eating to be shredded. - 1.5 pounds ground turkey
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup gluten free breadcrumbs
- a handful of fresh parsley
- generous amount of himalayan pink salt ⠀⠀⠀⠀
- pepper ⠀
- garlic powder ⠀
- chopped red onion (optional)
- tomato sauce of choice (homemade or a jar will do)

* Mix all ingredients (except sauce) until combined. * Form into balls, about 1.5 inches wide and bake on a parchment paper lined baking sheet at convection 375 for about 20 minutes. (If you don’t have a convection setting, let bake longer until cooked all the way through.)
* When meatballs are finished cooking, immediately add them into sauce of choice — I was limited on time, so I threw mine into my favorite jar of low sodium sauce, and it’s AMAZING. ⠀
*Add it to some pasta or zucchini noodles, pack away in a container for the week and you’re ready to roll! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

You will not always be motivated to go to the gym, to lift, to do cardio, etc. and that is OKAY

All you need to do is to learn how to listen to your body and how to recognize the difference between when you can go but don’t want to vs. when your body is telling you to take a break
.
Taking time to let your body and your mind rest is absolutely key to making fitness a long term part of your life in my opinion. If you’re on prep or have a deadline then your circumstances may be different but that’s something that you and your coach decide on. If you’re not in prep or competing or have a deadline, then do not ignore your body’s cues. Take a day or two to rest and get your mind and body ready then jump back into your routine
.

Last week I hated everything I saw in the mirror. My self esteem and self image was -100. I tried on bathing suits at Target and only bought one because I needed it, but not because I liked how I looked. If you would’ve asked me that day I would have much rather showed up in a T-shirt and leggings and not gotten in the water.

Breaking my foot and having that set back was harder on me mentally than prep ever had been. The scale was climbing and every attempt at a workout was a poor one.
____
Last week I also started my 16 week prep. This morning I woke up and weighed myself just our of curiosity- after all the scale does not define out progress... but I liked what I saw. In roughly one week I am down 4 pounds. For the first time in a while I looked in the mirror and felt better. The changes aren’t huge- but they’re there. And that’s all that matters. Small progress is still progress! So here’s to the next 16 weeks!!!!

I like to keep it simple & just make sure I’m incorporating them somewhere in my workouts & not neglecting! Also don’t worry about getting bulky takes a lot of work to get that big & don’t need a lot of weight to work them! JUST WORK THEM!

I’ve been doing some exercises religiously since my back injury, and I would recommend them to anyone who sits at a desk for long hours or experiences any lower back or hip pains.

SWIPEY SWIPE SWIPE:
🐮 1. Cat Cows: before every workout, I do these to warm up my back. I am flexible from my background in dance, so mine may look different from yours, but find the right spot for you to feel the stretch.
⠀⠀
🐥 2. Bird Dogs: I do these every morning, every workout warmup, and every night. Trying to at least (@boothalex88 pls love me). These are part of the McGill Big 3, and one where I notice myself improving every week!
⠀⠀
🦁 3. Curl Ups: Still working on mastering these but there’s lots of YouTube videos if you want to learn how to! It’s a great way to engage dat full core.
⠀⠀
🐼 4. Side Planks: I do these morning, workouts, and night! You can also just hold each side instead of doing reps! 🐸 5. Stretches! The 90/90 stretch is a solid one with lots of options within it. I ran through the different ones pretty quick to show you guys, but make sure you’re keeping those positions longer. ⠀⠀

Same weight, 5 days between these two videos. Sometimes it’s not about getting stronger physically, but mentally. The first time I tried lifting this alone I couldn’t even get the dumbbells fully up alone. My girl @mrsrobison15 had to spot me and it was a struggle.
The second attempt I worked my way up in weight and knew I had it in me to lift the same weight without a spot.
The difference is...a rest day, and mental clarity.
Clear your mind, give yourself a day off and try again! Baby steps. The guy that never gives up never loses.

I love heavy weight days BUT i also looove even more high volume work which is what I did here. Set a goal and when you reach it do MORE than what you expected and that’s where you see your growth. It is a lifestyle, not a diet. Remember that you are in it for the long haul. Some days are harder than others, those days that are tough and you want to give up are the most important ones to push through.

Overindulged a bit last night...oops. No one is perfect! Don't beat yourself up for living life once in awhile! Getting right back on track and putting those extra calories to work!

Today's quad focused workout:
Squats-was going for higher volume and making sure to go as low as I could
45 x 10, 65 x 10, 95 x 10 x 2, 115 x 10, 135 x 10 for 6 sets
Front squat 65 x 15 x 3 sets (Im really bad at these, shit hurts my wrists lol).
Step ups 45 x 10 x 3 sets each leg
Hack squat 90 x 3 sets of 10
Leg extension 80 x 3 sets of 15
Stair master 20 min

Other good quad exercises: lunges, leg press, split squat, pistol squat, deadlift, box jumps....
