Today we’ll talk about eccentric pull-ups in our guide to scaling the pull-up.

Our muscles are more frequently stronger with the eccentric movements they perform ie, lengthening the muscle instead of shortening that occurs with a concentric contraction. Keeping this in mind we can then manipulate this to our advantage!

Starting off with these, grab a box and use your legs to push yourself up into the pull-up position on the bar. Once set, slowly lower yourself to the dead hang position and once there place your feet back on the box and repeat.

I totally hate pull ups. AND CHINUPS y'all.!!!!No like I hate #pullup bars because as a kid being chunky and chubby I could NEVER lift my bodyweight. And those insecurities have stuck with me my whole life. It is something that NOW I am facing and conquering.

Using resistance bands is excellent for working towards body weight pull-ups. I started off with the thickest band they could sell, as weeks went by I started using thinner bands. Gradually decreasing in the thickness of the bands I was working with gave me less assistance as I gained strength #resistancebands #pullups #latworkout

I got my pie face on. πŸ˜… Honestly though, going back to the gym after a week off was no easy task. I tried to come up with reasons to go home or stay at work. I felt tired and groggy and just bad. But I ended up going anyway and I'm so glad I did! I had one of the best pull up sets I've ever done. I used a band to help me cause I still can't do completely unassisted pull ups and usually it's a struggle for me but I actually did pull ups without having to give myself any momentum. I was shocked that they went so well. If you're ever feeling like you should skip or just don't feel like it just go anyway. You'll thank yourself later.
