LUNGE + PRESS COMBO //

@alyizstrong & @caysem have another move to help with your summer shred.
This week we’re helping sculpt beautiful shoulders and legs with our partner @strongboardbalance
THE MOVE //
Start by stepping onto the StrongBoard and balancing on one leg. While balanced, Press your arms up overhead. Keep the press as you lunge backwards, finally coming right back up and doing another press.

This move will fatigue your shoulders quickly, so perform about five reps and then switch legs.

PROGRESSIONS //
If your shoulders cannot handle maintaining the press throughout the lunge, you can bring arms down so your hands are at shoulder height.

For anyone who has bad balance, instead of keeping your leg up while standing on the StrongBoard you can tap your non balancing foot down.

Having fun at #crossfit this morning testing out pull ups with a 20lb weighted vest for #themurph. I was thrown off guard that even jumping up to the bar was much harder! After this I’m definitely sticking to no vest on Monday. 😂

Confidence is an amazing thing... I have struggled with low self esteem, no confidence and extremely poor body image my entire life.

I remember my pediatrician telling my mom that I was to heavy and needed to be on a diet... I was probably 6 or 7 at the time... I left that office with tears streaming down my face... Through school I was bullied endlessly... every single day I was called at least one variation of fat or ugly... sometimes both. I became a very angry, mean person through high school. My temper at times was almost uncontrollable... thankfully after graduating I learned ways to control it.

Fast forward 8 years... I’m FINALLY gaining confidence... it’s a slow process but it’s getting there and it feels so good!! Please... know your self worth and don’t let anyone... I mean ANYONE take that from you.

I was feeling pretty and confident this morning and just had to take a selfie.

I'm almost 2 wks out for my competition and I'm hungry, irritable, tired, moody...but I am also incredibly happy an full of love and appreciation for my family. My kids give me lots of hugs and kisses and my amazing husband has been incredibly patient, understanding and supportive. I want my kids to see us working together as a team. I want them to see us work hard to achieve something. I want them to know that they can do whatever they set their minds on and WORK hard for! Things don't come easy. If you want it bad enough you have to sacrifice and work hard for it. .

Do not limit yourself because you’re afraid to fail.

I set a goal for myself to be able to do 1 pull up by the end of the summer. Yup. Just one. I have NEVER been able to do one and I am now totally obsessed with setting goals focused on strength and physical growth. (Side note, it’s amazing the confidence you gain from changing your goals to things that are non scale related!)

Doing a pull up has always made me nervous because not only have I not been able to do one, EVER, but I was honestly more nervous to make a fool of myself because I couldn’t do one. In grade school I remember having the option to do a pull up or flex arm hang and I always opted for flex arm hang because I could at least do that without, in my mind, embarrassing myself.

Well, After the past 73 days I have so much more confidence in myself and determination to just do me and challenge myself. So yesterday I said, what the heck, let’s give it a go (with all expectations I wouldn’t be able to do it... hence my initial goal)

Was my form great? Nope. I even had to use a ladder to reach #shortgirlproblems but none of that matters. What matters is that I DID IT! I showed myself up and proved myself wrong!

You can’t be successful if you never try. And if you do fail? That’s OKAY! Keep trying and keeping growing. If I had let my fear hold me back yesterday from trying I’d be be missing the opportunity for growth. Now that I know I CAN, I know I can set bigger goals to push myself more!

Y’all this girl is so freaking PUMPED that she can do ONE PULL UP! Don’t be the reason you can’t succeed. New goal: be able to do 5 pull ups in a row by the end of summer!

There will be NO STRONG by Zumba®️ class tomorrow (Saturday, May 26th).😭 I've been battling some illness this week & I must rest to fight it.

It was a squats on squats on squats kinda Friday morning! ☠️🙌
1️⃣Box squats-keeping feet inside shoulder width and never sitting back in the box in order to keep constant tension on the quads
2️⃣Heels elevated squats-feet are close together to really hit those quads
3️⃣ Anderson squats—wide stance and pressing off from the heels to target the glutes
4️⃣Bulgarian split squats (not shown)
Each exercise for 5 sets each and reps ranging from 10-6-depending on the weight 👌💪🔥🔥
