Sushi Das joins the @girledworld #WorldOfWork Summit to teach girls how to read between the lines and navigate #news in a world awash with content.
Sushi is an award-winning British/Australian journalist who worked for #TheAge (1995-2016) holding roles including news editor, feature writer, columnist, opinion editor and state political editor.
Educated and raised in London, Sushi migrated to Australia in 1991 and began her career as a news reporter at #AustralianAssociatedPress before becoming a regular columnist for #SBSOnline.
Her work, which often focuses on race relations, culture clash and equality for women, has been recognised with two #MelbournePressClub #Quill awards including Best Columnist in 2005.
Sushi is also a published author with @penguinbooks - her memoir #DerangedMarriage is an east-meets-west story about arranged marriage - and has been taught as a school text at Victorian secondary schools.
A strong advocate for girls’ empowerment, Sushi regularly addresses audiences at schools and conferences and currently works as a freelance columnist, writing consultant, and researcher for @RMIT @abcinmelbourne Fact Check.
We look forward to Sushi bringing her powerful story to 100's of girls at the @girledworld WW Summit @rmituniversity on Saturday June 16.
