Cafe Kodoku Concept:
Because life is a b*tch or beach for that matter. .
In general, life can seem to be a lonely path where everywhere and everything seems dark and difficult, just like the history and roots of this project. No matter how good one's intentions and aspirations are in this world, it is not a perfect world where one can get appreciated for your thoughts and humblest desires and it can get cruel at times. Those are the times when your heart breaks and you get lost in your dreams like in the wild long dark nights. And these are the times that you need to re-connect with your souls and re-affirm your presence amongst other people who feel the same, alienated by the modern life and all sorts of stress. .
Here comes our own flavor of space that offers your tired souls a sanctuary to appreciate the silence, each moment being surrounded by the charm and cultural elements that this beautiful country, Japan, has to offer. Essentially a bilingual and mixed setting wherein you can easily blend in among the cultural differences shared by the international staff who are culturally tolerant of whatever background you may have or be coming from.
In our deepest passion to promote Japanese culture thru the eyes of the ever-wondering foreigner, sad to say, we have yet to experience a totally vibrant space where you can enjoy both the best of the local and international ambience and atmosphere while being at peace with yourself and not having that need for "belongingness" - because you are already belong and considered to be in the community that we are building from scratch. Thus, we say "reverse omote-nashi" or リバースおもてなし for that matter. This is our heartfelt contribution to the internationalization of Japan which we hope will plant the seeds for more to come in the future and we look forward making it "sprout" all over the country with this mashed-up concept of traditional/modern Japanese cafe concept which banks on the combined strength of having a bilingual and cosmopolitan mind-set that will serve as the benchmark for future melting pot-style cafes like this that we have been dearly hoping for ever since.
