I remember when I first got really into strength training and gym workouts: “I need to train every single day"
I figured if I took a day off then I would ruin all of my progress, I would gain fat and eat everything in sight.
I soon figured out that I couldn’t have been more wrong.
Not only will you not get fat, you will not lose your strength gains, you will not lose your motivation, but you will actually help to shed fat, gain strength and increase motivation-- isn't that something!
I planned my days around my workouts. I programmed my life around the food.
I was there so I get the difficulty with taking programmed rest days.
I want to let you in on a secret...
REST IS A PRIVILEGE. It means that you have the ability to work so hard in the gym, that you need those programmed recovery and repair days.
I put together a spankin' new post all about REST AND RECOVERY. How I deal with rest days, why they are important and how make you a stronger, more productive, more focused and happier human.
To some reading this, you are saying "Umm.... I love rest rest days...why would someone workout every single day" but to others, you are struggling. You are struggling with feelings of guilt that you associate with taking time off; time off that your body needs to be faster, stronger, better, more level headed.
