“Books are the carriers of civilization. Without books, history is silent, literature dumb, science crippled, thought and speculation at a standstill. Without books, the development of civilization would have been impossible. They are engines of change windows on the world and lighthouses erected in the sea of time. They are companions, teachers, magicians, bankers of the treasures of the mind. Books are humanity in print.”
- I am continually fascinated by people throughout history who have risen up from their humble beginnings and absolutely defied all odds in their fearless pursuits of freedom and justice. The effects of their hard work that they achieved through blood sweat and tears is still influencing how we live in the world today. With all that’s going on in the world at the moment, it begs the question who will the next one be? I recently discovered ‘Hamilton’ (I know only 3 years behind *shakes head) The level that it speaks to me is uncanny. What he did for America I had no idea, I hence forth consider myself educated and blessed. Nelson Mandela would have been 100 years old today, his spirit lives on here in South Africa in the hearts of the people. Alexander Hamilton’s not only lives on through his incredible work, but also with the true spirit of America *cough not Trump, and most importantly the super catchy songs I’m just like my country—I’m young, scrappy, and hungry, and I am not throwing away my shot! - which historical figures through time speak to you and your beliefs, and do you think that more people will rise up to challenge the injustices of the world today?
