I joke a lot about Al being my dad, but that really is our relationship. He ushered me into this community as my drag dad, trusted me with some of my first photo shoots, and has been a rock these past few weeks. It's been an honor watch him grow and settle into himself and to see his integrity in action. I feel so honored to squeal that's my DAD! Whenever be does something devastatingly sexy onstage.

My constant self analysis about the masculinity I want to embody in the world has led me to my current classification that I have been calling "Hot Suburban Dad Fantasy". I have always been proud to be someone who people can come to chat, vent, trade advice/guidance, cuddle, laugh, & feel safe. There was a time earlier on in my transition when I wasn't sure if I could be seen as the above person & live in my masculinity because society often tells me they don't necessarily go together. Thankfully, I have had male & masc role models in my life that helped show me that was untrue. More than anything else, I find the above types of qualities to be sexy. It seems to me that Dad is a classification of masculinity that is allowed those qualities without being considered "unmasculine". Traits designated along binary gender lines are bullshit but until we've dissolved them, I am happy to embody this "Hot Dad" stereotype of masculinity is caring, vulnerable, compassionate, funny, safe, dependable & will also (to quote @sailorstclaire) "consentually fuck you real good". #queer #trans #FTM #transman #transmasculinesweetheart #queerphotographer #transphotographer #maxshawphotos #HotSuburbanDadFantasy #portrait #makeportraits #queerportraits #studio #fashion #editorial #lifestyle #seattlephotographer
