Here lies a few favorite pieces, of mine, dangling from my "hanging tree". The one on the left was a fated purchase, a cameo found by sheer connection, at an estate sale. It was hidden in a tiny box, within a much larger box that was filled with remnants of broken, dusty jewelry. The smaller box, containing only the cameo, had a clear lid, but it's beauty was obscured by the lid's deep surface scratches, as well as many years of aging that had frosted over the top of the box, preventing any view of the stunning possession it beheld. Luckily, while sifting through the rusted and decaying bits of jewelry in the larger box, I stumbled upon this tiny box within a box, and out of curiosity, I stole a quick look to see what was sleeping inside. Needless to say, I was completely unsuspecting and pleasantly surprised. To think, this ever radiant piece, that glistened like new in the sunlight, untouched by likely many decades of age and wear, was hidden in a plain, unnotable box among many layers of it's fellow, free-floating, crumbling companions, only to be unveiled and revealed to be an unscathed and frozen in time, invaluable valuable - a true gem among the dust. It has been an honor to give such a lovely piece, rich with history, a good home and the care it deserves.
The piece on the right bears just as much sentiment, having been gifted to me by my mother, who also shares an eternal adoration for the old, the unique, the vintage, and the forgotten. It is from the 60's, and has a gorgeous, silver, saw-like shape on the front of the black enamel locket. And of course, to the far right, a sneaking peek of haunting decor - a lonesome, glitter pumpkin I bought during the spooky season, many, many moons ago. When plugged in, it emanates a sequence of rainbow lights that change in a set pattern, but it eats up batteries like crazy. So, she is now nothing more than a decorative piece, LOL.
