February 25th: On this day 35 years ago in 1983, INXS released 'To Look At You'. It was the 3rd single lifted off their 3rd studio album 'Shabooh Shoobah'. 'To Look At You' was written by Andrew Farriss. The music video was directed by Scott Hicks in Adelaide. He also directed the 'Don't Change' & 'Spy Of Love' music videos. Later he went on to win an Academy Award for his movie 'Shine' in 1996.

The song reached #36 in Australia. However in polls of all-time favourite INXS songs it always ranks very highly amongst fans.
In the same month in February 1983, INXS had just signed with Atco Records in America. The single didn't get the same promotion in Australia as they prepared to tour America for the first time. The band didn't perform 'To Look At You' on 'Countdown', up until then their previous 8 singles had been since 1980.
The single was first released as a Ltd Edition double pack single with two 7" singles. It contained the b-sides 'The Sax Thing' by Kirk Pengilly & 'You Never Used To Cry' by Jon Farriss. Also a new version of 'Here Comes' titled 'Here Comes II'. A couple of weeks later in March, the single was released as just a one 7" with 'The Sax Thing' as the b-side. This version is actually harder to find than the 'limited edition' double pack.
The 7" single also got released in America with the same front picture sleeve but with a different back cover. Since the single didn't chart in America it's the rarest of the American INXS 7" singles.
A 12" promo vinyl in America had a sticker on the front which read "INXS To Look At You pronounced Hit" as a joke as American people didn't know how to pronounce INXS.
There was a 12" extended version of 'To Look At You' released on the American version of Dekadance' in 1983 which contained 4 mixes of songs from 'Shabooh Shoobah'. 'To Look At You' featured in the American movie 'Reckless' in 1984. The movie also included 'The One Thing' & 'Soul Mistake'. In 2010 'To Look At You' was re-recorded by INXS for their 12th studio album 'Original Sin'. The singer for 'To Look At You' was Kav Temperley from Eskimo Joe.
