Happy #ShareSunday to everybody! I hope everyone has been able to share some great beers over the weekend! Not too long ago, I had the great pleasure of sharing my first Dark Lord variant from @3floydsbrewing with loved ones. This one was aged is Muscat barrels with cocoa nibs, coffee, and vanilla. Let's take a look at my brief notes on it. I obtained this beer in a trade.
Name: Dark Lord - French Vanilla Militia (2017)
Brewery: 3 Floyds Brewing Company, Munster, Indiana
Style: Russian Imperial Stout
Poured at an unknown temperature from a 750ml bottle into a Birrateque Stout glass. Consumed on 20May18.
NOTE: A huge chocolate sweetness immediately dominated the profile, bringing a wonderful decadence. A strong caramel and toffee maltiness along with a mild marshmallow goodness further strengthened the sweetness of the beer. The Muscat barrel came though nicely, bringing a mild blend of a white wine fruitiness. There was, unfortunately, green bell pepper spice that did not combine well with the other flavors. Although subtle, the beer would have been much better without it.
OVERALL RATING: 4.5 / 5.0
