The drive back to the house was filled with tense silence. Before I had even turned the car off, Nix was exiting with nothing such as even a glance in my direction. I followed guardedly behind her, making sure to keep some distance while shuffling my feet. I'm give her a minute to calm down, I thought dissecting her movement as I trailed her to the kitchen. I could tell she was frustrated, even more so when she huffed and balled her hands against the counter before going inside of the fridge. I was hungry as fuck too, watching her from the corner of my eye while she sifted through food. I saw her grab several things, fixings to make a sandwich from the looks of it. I rounded the counter and slowly made my way near where she was standing. "Hey punkin..." I murmured from behind her with her back to me. She didn't immediately acknowledge that I'd said anything. She knew I disliked the silent treatment more than her arguing me up and down. When she didn't respond, I continued on. "What you making?" I asked, eyeing her closely. She avoided me and turned the stove on, preparing to heat up a pan. "Something from where I come from.." She mumbled under her breath. "Seriously...you going there?" I couldn't believe she was throwing that stupid comment back up in my face. "Don...I'm making ham and cheese sandwiches," She answered, sighing exasperatedly and still refusing to look at me.
