For as long as I can remember now I've been tracking feeds in an app. Yesterday I was so fed up of analysing and trying to make sense of it all that I decided to stop.

Keeping a log of feeds has become a bit of an emotional crutch, a way of justifying why I feel so tired, and a vain attempt to have an answer ready when people ask me how my baby is sleeping.
.
But responsive breastfeeding doesn't need to have a pattern. In fact, it's unlikely to when you consider developmental leaps, teething, colds, separation anxiety, and everything else a baby goes through on a regular basis. So I've decided to embrace the chaos.

This week is #mentalhealthawarenessweek and there's no denying that poor sleep can make us feel down, worried, and stressed. Studies have even suggested that up to 90% of adults with depression experience sleep problems.

I don't like how most people talk about sleep.

Let’s talk separation anxiety for a minute. A lot of parents fear this and our society tends to put a negative connotation on it - but it’s actually a completely normal and important part of infant development. It seems to hit a peak around 8 months of age and can last until about 18 months of age. A toddler should show some distress when the primary caregiver leaves and a securely attached infant will welcome that caregiver back when they return. .

As the years have gone on I have been more diligent with sleep, especially after reading "Sleep" by Matthew Walker. I always aim for 8 hours as that is the optimal number Matthew recommends in the book. Here are a few things which I feel help me have a better sleep.
