Rather than gobbling a salad on my lunch break like a normal human, I go on the hunt to find bangin' cake shops heheh Today I came across @kovapatisserie daaan in Soho and bloomin' ek, you have gotta get ya mitts on their matcha mille crepe, the most beautiful pile of Japanese dreams I have ever tasted Any other cake spots I need to try?
1. Favela Cubana - Cuban restaurant near Washington Park that has cute vibes
2. Joe’s Pizza - worth the hype... cheap and authentic New York Pizza
3. Galli - nice food, service, and ambience! good price for quality italian food!
4 and 5. Dominique Ansel - nice bakery that has amazing staff. went two days in a row, once for breakfast and once to try their cronut after being disappointed with my cookie dough from DŌ, Cookie Dough Confections
No, this is not the entrance of some lush tropical hideaway in Miami. This is a lush tropical hideaway in NYC..Yaas!
It’s the newly opened Gitano on Sixth Ave and Canal street. The New York outpost of this Tulum original is a palm tree packed paradise with a wood pergola dining deck, market lights and a menu that focuses on fresh Mexican dishes.
I tested out a few monitos and the guac for ya’ll and they were #agentsofcompass
Getting on that Asian food vibe with good old Wags (@wagamama_uk) This is their "Steak Bulgogi" creation, part of the Omakase section on their extensive menu Marinated sirloin and miso-fried aubergine is dressed in a sesame and bulgogi sauce and served on a bed of soba noodles sure Wagamama is a chain but I've always found their food to be both flavoursome and decent value Dean St, Soho
It's 5am, I look like Iggy Pop in a wind tunnel, but I've had such a brilliant night trotting around Soho for @eventbriteuk. You can pop over there to have a peek at my story, and there'll be a write-up coming next week. But for now, swipe through here for a couple of highlights...
gonna miss the fast-casual nyc food scene. tried @inthedez tonight and got a bunch to share- top left: shashuka. top right: seed & veg salad. bottom right: warm pita and za’atar bread. bottom left: saffron rice with baharat grilled chicken
Waited too long to jump on the bandwagon with this one.
HIPCHIPS serve up fresh made crisps (don’t let the name food you there, I was expecting french fry chips too) with a bajillion bizarre dips. Here we have a small box with two dippings. There’s a choice of sweet (sprinkled with cinnamon sugar) and savory (just salt) chips. There are several vegan dips available, but here we have the PB&J and a jalapeño yogurt dip.
To our surprise, PB&J actually worked quite well with our savory chips! The heat of the jalapeño was stronger than we expected though. So take caution when ordering hot dips. .
Regional menus are nothing new, but we’ve noticed a few openings on the horizon that are offering cuisines from some out-there locations. @kyseri_ldn, @babelhouseldn and @littlekolkatauk are all on our radar this week. Get on board! @kyseri_ldn
Today's healthy fix is from new opening @tavuuk_ here in Soho They've been open for about a month - offering a taste of Berlin street food with a Turkish influence. I decided to try out their grilled halloumi salad with guacamole, crunchy onions and greens was a nice sized portion and pretty tasty - helping towards that 5 a day Their main speciality is authentic chicken doner which I'll definitely be trying next time Bateman St, Soho
