So I wanted to hike up a mountain, because I thought it would be relaxing and I'd have a nice view over Neuschwanstein Castle. The beginning was totally alright, nice asphalt roads, then gravel paths, then the paths became more narrow, tree roots, rocks, but all fine and expected. Then I got to the point when all of a sudden I actually had to CLIMB a meter or two of rocks, which was kinda scary because I was just wearing soccer shorts and normal shoes and that's absolutely not the right gear for that. I didn't expect that the path would turn into that. And then this happened. Hooks for carabiners everywhere, whole walls of rock and I suddenly found myself hanging over the abyss with my toes and fingers clawed in stone. I never regretted anything more in that moment I never even went to a climbing gym, the only climbing experience I had were those two meter boulder walls on children's playgrounds. Those iron ropes were a blessing to hold onto, but they were kinda rare. How many calories does fear of death burn? The soles of my shoes were so smooth that I kept slipping and just knew I'd never get down the same way, that's why turning around wasn't an option, and I didn't want to give up when I had already gone through so much. So I went on and it was crazy. 2047 metres in altitude. I went down the other side of the mountain even though that way was much longer because I was pretty sure I wouldn't have made it down in one piece if I had taken the same way that I came from. It was the most scary and most thrilling experience of my life🧗🏻♂️ But I definitely made a mental note to pack proper gear next time .
