Foggy start to Saturday and did not lift all day.racing did not go to plan with a bit of a incident first lap first corner...opps which ended up with a cracked steering arm.we attempted a track fix with two hose clamps and a bolt which lasted to the last lap of the second race .With a Did not start for race 3 put us back to grid 13 for the start of the enduro on Sunday 👍 .

In these videos, the Hinsperger Bros @jaack59 @jameshinsperger are working through the basics of landing mechanics.

Many athletes neglect to work the basics, and instead jump into complex plyometrics sequences because they're much more flashy. However, athletes should train with intent and early in preparation, it is imperative to learn the proper landing mechanics, not only to prevent injury but also to learn how to trap elastic energy so that they can be more explosive during subsequent movements.

When the feet land, the athlete should actively attempt to Hold & Trap the landing position. If any body part deviates, energy is lost, and then is unable to be applied to a future (concentric) movement (jumping, sprinting, COD, etc.)

Not every rep will be perfect, especially during the beginning stages, but the intent is to strive for perfection. The smallest of movements after the initial absorption are what we’re trying to avoid. It is not uncommon to see an athletes hips or torso rebound up after the initial landing which is a leak of energy making them inefficient. Knee deviation is also another very common leak to keep your eye on in single leg landing drills.

The intent of these types of landing drills is to teach proper positioning but also increase the ability/capacity to trap elastic energy. After these mechanics have been perfected, this acquired stable base will be used to improve reactivity - the ability to effectively use elastic energy in a quick counteraction.

You can even see the progression from each athletes first rep to their last rep! So if you spend time on this every single day early in the offseason imagine the amount of progression that is possible over a matter of months!

Dynamic-Effort Following a De-load week.

Last week I talked about some de-loading principles. Now, here is a look at a dynamic-effort lift following a de-load.
.
‼️ NOTE: Our goal is to wake up the central nervous system. Obviously, that is easy on a dynamic/speed day, but we performed some extra variations today to do so and prep us for the week ahead.

After testing our verticals (prep for a 6 week cycle of loaded jumps), we performed:
.
Dynamic-Effort Squats and Swiss Bar Bench: BAR SPEED. Build power via displaying strength as quickly as possible.
.
Banded KB Swings: Band forced acceleration through lockout. Build more proficiency with triple extension.
.
Rotational Med Ball Throws: use Jumps as countermovement to build power prior to rotation.
.
Sled pushes: Build rate of force development (what looks like “quick feet.”), and rehearse acceleration angle.

Really excited to work with this kid who is transitioning from SS to CF to take advantage of his speed (6.3 60-yard dash) and athletic ability. He’s a super raw talent with an incredible work ethic.

Last year, he hit a whopping .388 as a junior in one of the top Southern California leagues in Southern California. While he only tallied two extra base hits, he has quick, strong hands and plus power, so we’re working on developing a more aggressive approach and mentality at the plate so he can tap into that power and demonstrate the ability to hit doubles and home runs to further wow the scouts.

Because he is an inexperienced outfielder, he lacks elite footwork, reads, and routes. Thus, we’re working on these defensive skills through various drills, including fielding/attacking ground balls and chasing down fly balls over his head. •
No doubt he’s going to be a great player someday, but like anyone else, he’s gotta put in the work. I’m excited to see where he ends up next year after completion of this training program.

Late monday movement!! If you do not have access to a reverse hyper machine at your gym that should never stop you from performing reverse hypers.

A great alternative is peforming the reverse hyper on an incline bench. To set up place a mat on the edge of the bench for comfort. Elbows placed on the bench, palms gripping the bench for support. --
The reverse hyper is a fantastic movement for posterior strength and health. A should be staple in all lifting programs, performing this on a bench allows to accomadate larger groups of athletes, and make your weight room flow a little more effecitive.
