The NorthEastern region of Thailand known as Isaan has some of the kingdom's most vibrant and flavoursome food. From salads that zing in your mouth to grilled meats to die for.
Pictured is Gaeng Ohm Muu (แกงอ่อมหมู) • Spicy Isaan Herbal Pork Soup.
The soup is quite spicy from chilli and also has so many herbs in it to make the taste jump out at you. There is lemongrass, galangal and dill as well as kaffir lime leaves, cabbage, green beans and apple eggplant.
The broth had a lot of body and it was similar in some respects to a Gaeng Bpaa (แกงป่า), which is like a thin, soup-style jungle curry containing no coconut milk.
Do give it a try, as it was delicious.
