When the going gets tough...
Last night we went out for dinner with some very good friends, ate a delicious meal together, shared wine and stories and came home feeling content. This morning however, I woke up with a ‘food hangover’!
Having a bowel that is riddled with adhesions and strictures (narrowings caused by scar tissue from my surgeries), I am very limited as to what I should eat. No garlic, onions, veges with skin, fruit with seeds, grains, dairy...the list is waaay to long and boring to write it all down- but it’s incredibly restrictive. Essentially, my new bowl has zero tolerance for any food that causes gas and any morsel that doesn’t slide off a spoon. For those of you who know me well, any hard and fast rules in my life are generally broken, screwed up and tossed aside! Last night, was one of those days off for me and I wanted to eat whatever I felt like.
Half a bowl of a delicious vegetable risotto triggered another bowel obstruction.
So, HELLO intensive care paramedics, HELLO IV morphine, antinaus and fluids.
Grrr, grrr and grrrrr.
St Johns were awesome and agreed with me that life is indeed for living and good risottos are hard to come by.
Does anyone else suffer from bowel obstructions???
