💥The Deep Neck Flexors are very important because they provide stability for the neck.  Anterior head carriage or forward head posture typically indicates that the deep neck flexors are dysfunctional and can be a factor leading to neck pain. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⚡️Also, these muscles are loaded with high muscle spindle density with a high number of mechanoreceptors.  Which is why spinal manipulation can be effective in providing feedback and improving function of these muscles when added w/ movement. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💥The balance between the posterior and anterior deep muscle groups of the neck can ensure optimal centration of the cervical facet joints.  A great way to begin is to work on chin tucks.  This can be done in the supine position or even standing pushing the back of the head against a yoga ball. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⚡️The most challenging in my opinion is hovering an inch off of the ground in a retracted position.  Also try lifting the head into full retraction, and slowly lowering.  I also like to add theraband resisted chin tucks in eccentric contractions.  Instead of performing a bunch of repetitions, perform resisted and hold, or try to slowly lower against the band like in the video.

Dr. Tew’s Mobility Monday.
I’m constantly tinkering with exercise variations and new ways to mobilize. Nothing groundbreaking here, but it is a good full body stretch/mobility movement. It’s performed in the squat position, which is always good for mobility of the hips ankles and knees, but it really puts a stretch through the lats and triceps. Lastly, you get thoracic spine extension coupled with rotation.

Water helps lubricate the joints along with making sure the muscles and ligaments keep their flexibility and strength. If you don't drink enough water the tissue would be strong or flexible enough to hold your adjustment. --
Plus, the more water you drink the less likely you are to reach for the sugar filled drinks! Try and drink 6-10 glasses of water a day, especially in the Arizona summer heat!

You’ve seen this exercise before very likely but do you know why you’re even doing it? 🤷‍♂️I am one of those annoying people who needs a justifiable reason of why I’m doing something. 🙋‍♂️ A “why” ask-er if you will and I hope you would. Many times I hand this position to someone who needs to learn what hip flexion is without extending their low back, needs a progression in their diaphragmatic breathing practice 💨, or just a great warmup before their workout 🏋️️‍♂️🏋️️‍♀️. All this week and hell maybe even part of next🤷‍♂️, we will dissect this poor dead bug (shout out to eighth grade anatomy at East Richland Middle School #gocubs)🐯.

One of the best means of this exercise is the anti-extension component. This relates to being put into a position where your body may went to extend in the low back to get the job done…but you’re smarter than that right? 🎓This is where keeping the rib cage fixated down (cueing to think of a towel or something underneath the small of your low back and smashing it…or a bug if you hate bugs🙅‍♀️🙅‍♂️) and using your diaphragm to establish pressure in the abdominals and around the low back area handles the job for you. ⛑️ Sit tight and get your Raid ready to tackle dead bugs.

Spartan Race Ultra Beast Andorra, que corrida insana foi essa?!?!?

Eu nunca conseguiria descrever neste texto o que foi esta batalha, somente eu sei o que foi lutar mentalmente a cada quilometro montanha acima e abaixo, só posso falar que foi sem duvida a corrida mais desafiadora e mais dura da minha vida!
.
Foram 57km em montanhas, 90 obstáculos (só errei 2), 14hs13m, de uma prova insana e inesquecível 💪🏻

Os treinos duros que realizei deram certos, as estratégias de suplementação e hidratação durante a prova foram perfeitas 👍🏻
.
Foi um sonho realizado, eu acreditei, eu me dediquei e eu venci!
Todos podem se realmente acreditar 👊🏻

A fun drill to incorporate when looking to improve balance and neuromuscular reactivity to external stimuli. When looking at issues with ankle, knee, and hip stability, we can utilize rehab drills to convey a multitude of messages to the body.

After patterning weighted single leg deadlifts, we went on to increase the demand of stability by involving hand eye coordination and dynamic movement in the upper body while requiring that the knee and foot not give in to valgus and excessive pronation. This allowed for simultaneous glute med, intrinsic foot, and neurological activation.
〰️
Remember, avoiding valgus and foot pronation isn't the goal here : controlling it is. Do not "avoid" or "shame" movements that will happen naturally, simply learn how to program for and control them.

Just over 4 years ago I was truly lost and in need of some direction in every aspect of my life. On the recommendation of my good friend Dr. Michael Maggio, I travelled to Austin, Texas to take a course called Active Release Techniques. The course was led and facilitated by many brilliant Doctors of Chiropractic. This guy in particular helped me a lot and gave me some much needed guidance. He probably didn’t know it at the time but he had a profound influence on me and my personal and professional development. This weekend I had the great fortune to learn from him again. Make sure you have enough mobility in your hips, legs, and upper back to perform a body weight squat correctly before adding load. Shown here is a squat drill used to perfect technique. The idea of standing close to a wall helps to ensure that you aren't using a forward lean. .

1️⃣Hinge the hips as you squat down so that your butt moves backwards.
2️⃣Keep the pressure on the heels and do not lift them up.
3️⃣Pick a spot on the wall to look at throughout the movement, avoiding looking down or up.
4️⃣Keep the shoulders back and chest slightly out.
