Needless to say, I spent Earth Day the best way I possibly could. In an island that holds a special place in my heart, surrounded by wonderful energies... it felt good to return to Pangangan Island with my @plasticfree_bohol Tribe. I got to see family, see spots my dad and grandpa used to take me to, enjoy the island life and actually feel at home for once. But most importantly, we got to clean up one of the most badly polluted spots in our island. No better way show love to my island, right? But now, lets look at these insane numbers
In 2 hours, around 100 volunteers cleaned up a record breaking 1839.16 lbs of trash in the mangrove area of Barangay Magtongtong alone. It was a beautiful moment (for me) to witness locals, relatives and friends work together. But sadly, alot more work needs to be done in our island. Like... ALOT.
So in behalf of my people and my ancestors lookin down on us, I thank my Plastic Free Bohol family for coming out and holding this action in Pangangan Isla. I really do hope this sparks a new era of awareness and concern for environment in our side of Bohol. And I do hope we can hold another action around here again soon (Tubigon maybe?). So again, much love and appreciation to my @plasticfree_bohol fam and all the folks I got to meet and vibe with last sunday. Its day like these I truly find fulfilling #PROTECTWHATYOULOVE
