Losing weight for me as I’m sure for most of you has been an emotional journey. I started after I had my baby, when he was 3 months old. I was learning how to become the best mum for him and also needed to do this for my own sanity and confidence. I wouldn’t even want pictures of me with my beautiful new baby because I hated myself. I had put on 5 stone when I was pregnant and I was faced with a huge mix of emotions. The over powering love for my new born that I can not explain and then an overwhelming hate for myself when I looked in the mirror or at photos. I have now lost almost 4 stone and I am still working on myself on the inside to understand that I should always love myself and still trying to face my new body since having a baby. However I am so so lucky to have had my little boy and my aim in life is to teach him to always love himself and to always be kind to others as you don’t know how bad someone can feel on the inside. Decided to train legs yesterday at @breedphysiqueplymouth before driving to Cardiff 🤦🏻‍♀️ My session was more focused on hamstrings and glutes. I left achy and shaky so I must of done something right 🍑😂 I’m really enjoying getting into training again properly, can’t wait to see what changes I can make over the next few months.

If you haven’t noticed or figured out by my posts and rambles lately, I’ve been going through a bit of a heightened stressful, anxious period... trying to change the way I’m thinking, feeling and moving!
And it’s TOUGH!
The last few weeks I’ve cried nearly everyday.
I’ve felt lost and confused, small and broken. I stopped feeling empowered.
~
I’m telling you this, not for attention, but to be open and raw and share my journey, to start a conversation, bringing awareness and breaking the stigma of mental health.
Because even those of us who are seen smiling day in day out, can be struggling deeply! To let you know, that no matter what you’re feeling, if you think it’s important or not
YOU ARE NOT ALONE AND YOU MATTER! And that recovery of any kind isn’t linear. It (annoyingly) never takes the path you want it to be or look like and is different for each of us.
~
So if anyone who is reading this has had a rough week, a sh*t time or feel as though you’re carrying pain, know that it’s okay.
You haven’t failed and you’re not a failure for going through these things and feeling this way!
Because even though it’s hard, and it doesn’t feel like things will ever change, it will be okay. Nothing is ever perfect, but those days and moments where you smile, laugh and have fun🤗 there will be more of them than the dark moments.
So keep going, give yourself a break, breathe!
Be gentle on yourself, gentle we are only human❤️

This one is going to be a bit spicy 🌶️ on your grip.

📌6 minute Farmer Walk Challenge.
.
✔️Grab a pair of Dumbbells or Kettlebells that equal 1/4-1/2 bodyweight per hand and set a timer for 6 minutes.
.
✔️Every time you have to put the weights down stop the timer and perform 10× Goblet Squats and 5× Push Ups (no kneeling Push Ups).
.
✔️As soon as you've completed your squats and push ups start the timer and continue with your farmer walk.
.
✔️Aim to complete 6 minutes total of Farmer Walks with as few stops as possible.

Sculpting my shoulders & back!💪

I prefer going slightly higher volume on my upper body workouts! I want to define these muscles more, as they grow a lot faster than my lower body, so I don’t have to go as heavy & low reps on these!
.
1️⃣ Face pulls - 15-20 reps x 4 set - 1 min rest
▪️Control each pull and squeeeeeze at the end of each rep - keeping your elbows as high as ya can throughout!
2️⃣ Lateral Raises - 12-15 reps x4 sets - 1 min rest
▪️Keep your spine and neck neutral - don’t lift your chin up too much (really can cause injury!) Control each rep - using your shoulder cap to raise each & don’t swing the rep 👍🏼

I always add these 2 exercises into my weekly upper body workouts as they really focus on the areas I am working on - shoulders and upper back 👌

Back gains 🏋🏽‍♀️ How many times do you work your upper body? I only do an upper body work out once a week but it’s where I see the quickest and the most gains, probably because it was the weakest and most lean part of my body before I started working out💪🏽☺️. I wish I saw results as quickly for my lower body🙄 I definitely think I need to up my weights and my reps to start seeing better results, what else should I be doing fit fam?! 🤷🏽‍♀️

3 months down, 2 months to go.

I’m going to let you into a secret, something that many people avoid talking about... weight. The picture on the left I was weighing in at 66.7kg or 10.5 stone. The photo on the right taken this morning I weighed 63.0kg or 9.9 stone. I said to my fiancé this morning that if 3 years ago you told me I was going to weigh 10 stone I would of cried. Being just 4ft 11, i would be classed as overweight, on the verge of obese. As you can see, and would hopefully agree... I am not over weight. I am healthy and happy. I have lost a lot of inches, maintaining some good muscle mass and my mental health has massively improved since I have increased my cardio... I have a good mind to just throw the damn scales out!

Oh I do love a good class, especially when you’ve got pals to go with 👯‍♀️! @sunshineandwaffles took me along to a lunchtime @f45_liverpoolst class for 45 minutes of resistance training 🏋🏼‍♀️ with some banging tunes and questionable dance moves 💃🏼. Exactly how every resistance training session should be (my clients know that to be true 🤪)! If you have an F45 near your home or office why not give it a try? They usually do a great intro offer which will give you a good idea of the variety of classes, the instructor vibe and the local community they’ve built 👌🏻. This came up on my news feed this morning 🙌 while running is not a universal solution to mental health problems, we can use running as a tool to improve the way we think and feel.

One key part of the article highlights that running helps to tone down the activity in the default mode network which is responsible for your inner monologue, you know, that voice in your head that tries so hard to bring you down, makes you over think and instigates mind wandering. .
I run as therapy. You don't have to go fast or far, just get moving and see how it feels for you ❤️

Are you fed up with - Wanderlusting, scantly clad, product peddling, side posing & immaculately groomed health & fitness bloggers?.... They are all over Instagram, portraying nothing but being "perfect" & "super healthy", continually charged up like a demented Duracell bunny.
Its hard to separate fact from fiction or to know what's fake or real life.
But Wait for it!
According to a recent study this actually NOT the case, most of these "influencers" are only concerned with the looking good & the pouting for the camera, rather than focusing on BEING healthy or even eating healthy, sadly these are the type of mixed messages are all over social media, TV & glossy magazines.
Is this type of influence partly to blame for the rise in depression, body distortion, unrealistic dieting expectations & self loathing, does it have an impact on obesity?
Be mindful of who fills your social feeds, think about how they make you feel?
And don't forget that by making positive choices like cooking healthy meals, being active & making time to unwind is always the best way to feel good & look good. 💖
