Working on LANDING MECHANICS with the hurlers this week. We went through different variations from double leg forwards and sideways over hurdles to single leg forwards and lateral jump - aim was to stick the landing for a few seconds after each jump with feet hip width apart.

Great review I received recuperating a tibeal plateau fracture .Muscle testing has taught us that the human condition and experience goes far beyond the physical realm even when dealing with physical problems .Breaks ,ligaments ,muscles and tendons etc need to be challenged to all things primarily the physical ,Mental ,and emotional contexts of a person .The mental context is the most important context in the psychology of a human being and any professional sporting team that is successful has a strong mental outlook .Other factors switching off muscles that can make the tendons and ligaments energetically susceptible to popping out again or prone to injury are chemical stresses,allergies,genetic pre dispositions ,people in adrenal stress ,low energy who rely on false stimulants for a quick pick me up etc.While it is important to strengthen your muscles and tendons and ligaments it's also important to investigate and look at any other factors that may challenge the injury weather it be a knee or shoulder etc.Time and time again we find many contexts that can challenge the injury and the more contexts we can find where we can switch back on and bring more stability to the muscles the more chance we have to assist people to recuperate.#health #mentalhealth #physicalhealth #recuperation #kinesiology #investigate #reset #tendons #ligaments #muscles #pyschology #human #experience

Small wounds can be innocuous but this one on the point of hock found itself within the calacaneal bursa. These wounds can be really problematic if not addressed early and aggressively with surgery and lavage. *COMMON ATHLETIC FOOT INJURIES: symptoms and prevention*
1️⃣STRESS FRACTURE: Symptoms - Tenderness of a bone in your foot without warning and/or explanation. If the pain does not resolve you should seek advice from a podiatrist. Prevention: Be cautious of over training and be sure to ice on your rest days. Avoid switching quickly to hard surfaces and ease into your training regimen.
2️⃣ACHILLES TENDONITIS: Symptoms: Tightness and/or soreness of the Achilles’ tendon. Prevention: Stretch both calf muscles and Achilles’ tendon prior to exercise and strengthen calf muscles.
3️⃣PLANTAR FASCIITIS: Symptoms: Sharp pains in the arch or heel of your foot. Prevention: Wear appropriate footwear for your sport you may need orthotics to increase your arch. Stretch out the plantar fascia before and after exercise.
4️⃣BLISTERS: Symptoms - Soreness and fluid under the skin. Prevention - Synthetic socks that wick away moisture and prevent friction.
5️⃣SHIN SPLINTS: Symptoms - pain in the side or front area of the shin. Prevention - Switch to a thicker shoe and focus on motion control.

Tonight on muscle Mondays I'm going to discuss flexibility.
When aiming to improve flexibility, the muscles and their fascia (sheath) should be a major focus of our flexibility training.
While bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, and skin contribute to our overall flexibility, we have very little control over these factors.
Bones and joints are structured in such a way as to allow a specific range of motion. For example, the knee joint will not allow our leg to bend any further forward past a straight leg position, no matter how hard we try.
Ligaments connect bone to bone and act as stabilisers for joints. Stretching the ligaments should be avoided and can result in a permanent reduction of stability at the joint,which can lead to joint weakness and injury.
Tendons connect muscle to bone and consist of dense connective tissue. They are extremely strong yet very pliable. Tendons also play a role in joint stability and contribute less than 10% to a joints overall flexibility; tendons should therefore not be a primary focus of stretching.
