Everybody was Kung-Fu fighting
Well, the little bumble bee didn’t know that’s what they were doing. He missed the memo. Deuro didn’t miss him however.
Deuro’s classic ‘land on your head and knock you off my plant’ is fast becoming his signature move.
When I saw Deuro nip through the flowers though, the theme tune from Jaws started playing in my head
I ain't never had nobody show me all the things that you can show me And the special way I feel when you hold me..We gone always be together baby that's what you told me And I believe it Cause I ain't never had nobody do me like you.... #MINE#Girlfriend#Wifey#Territorial#Love#Testme#Babe

Very #excited to introduce #Chance! This #handsome little guy has been having some #territorial issues and #fearbasedaggression when walkers come into the apartment to #leash and take him out for a walk. After a couple of #warning nips, mama got in touch to work the problem out and we had an excellent consultation yesterday. We started with #obedience to build up more #confidence and give the walkers a base to work with, and I showed her some tricks for getting the leash on when he’s feeling #anxious. She thought I was a bonafide #dogwhisperer but I told her I can teach anyone to understand dogs better if they just want to #listen and #respect their #boundaries. Already have another session set up with Chance next week and can’t wait to see him again! #gonzodognyc
Under 16’s and those of a sensitive disposition may want to avert their eyes
Deuro’s been patiently hanging out in a bee hotel in the fluffy flower patch for about a week. And judging from what I saw yesterday, his patience has paid off heaps.
This is his manor.
To use his flowers means you have to form a conga line to sign up to his ‘friends with benefits’ scheme. The females get to feed on his flowers, use his flower’s fluff for future cell making for their babees, with the added protection of having a permanent security guard as Deuro is one over protective, territorial little buzz-buzz. Which is why I was baffled by my first female leaf cutter bee who had started making her leaf cells in this area two days previously, when there are two hotels right near the Maple tree away from all this hassle of ‘pat downs’ and security clearance every time she tries to return with a leaf?
I too have frequently been checked over by Deuro. Being near this area means he has flown repeatedly close to my face sizing me up. He’s can’t sting and isn’t at all aggressive but he’s protecting his somewhat unconventional family and checking if I’m a threat to them or himself.
The other bees in the area that aren’t female wool carders are being chased off, but at least the little bumbles are waiting for Deuro to go to bed before using his flowers, and to be fair, if this is standard for male Wool Carder bees daily activities, I bet the poor little guy is shattered
