This was an interesting read this morning ‘Patients will decide how they spend NHS money’. At first I thought they were just going to make people vote for areas they wanted to see improved (like NHS England were going to put an insta poll on their story haha). But actually reading it, it’s about personal health budgets. Now I didn’t actually know that these existed until this morning, so I need to do a bit more reading to get the full picture. There are definitely pros, like a woman using her budget to buy a service dog and hire carers so she can reclaim her life. And of course, there are cons, like people abusing the money given to them to buy holidays and new clothes (though holidays might be helpful to those with depression or a little respite for carers etc I personally don’t think they address the actual cause of depression and should not be used in this way). But have a read and form your own opinion!
Newspapers are a good way to read around a wide variety of current events and I’ve read countless sources telling us that it can help improve Section 1 & 2 of the GAMSAT, or you can just impress your friends down the pub with your knowledge of current affairs... I don’t buy newspapers very often because £1.60 for the times?! But when I do I usually read it over a few days and read every story to get my money’s worth.
Ballycastle ..one of the best places to live
The Times Newspaper rated this quaint seaside town as one of the best places to live in 2017 ..we couldn’t agree more ..the beach and stunning coastline are any travel bloggers dream .
Stay at the Schoolhouse and drive to Ballycastle in 14 mins ..checkout famous sights like Fairhead (featured in Game of Thrones) or take a trip on the Ferry to Rathlin Island and do some seal spotting .. ..
If you play golf there is a great course right on the seafront. ️♂️ ...
If you happen to visit at the end of August definitely go to the Auld Lammas Fayre and soak up the festival atmosphere .
Enjoy some local food in the town ..try @ursaminorbakehouse for artisan bread and beautiful cakes or @thymeandco superb for a traditional fry up and Irish bakes.. try the gastro pub menu at @central_wine_bar and for the best ice cream go to @morelliice at the seafront ..
And don’t forget to get Fish & Chips at the very popular Morton’s beside the harbour!
