If you haven't given taste-safe sand a try, click that little banner in the bottom right to bookmark this post! Here's the secret, all it is is cornmeal! You can find cornmeal at the grocery store by the flour and one bag is enough to create an awesome, taste-safe, easy to sweep sandbox for your little one!
I filled our sensory bin with cornmeal and threw in some animal magnets 🦒, but you could totally do this activity with anything! Figurines, puzzle pieces, blocks, letters, colored slips of paper, they all work! I buried the magnets in the sand slightly, added some sand tools and an old cookie sheet. E scooped, brushed, and grabbed the magnets from the sand, then stuck them to the cookie sheet . I modeled how to use some of the sand tools and we practiced saying the names of animals and their sounds. Language development + sensory play ! This is a perfect indoor or outdoor activity!
P.S. Don't forget to supervise and guide your child while they explore!
