This weekend the temperatures soared, up from the lows of 35 and highs in the 40s-50s to nearly 80 degrees! It was marvelous, manic, and so refreshing…Until dinner time when I went out to close up the green house and realized my husband and I miscommunicated and some seedlings got left covered up in their little flats. My heart sank when I opened the dome and saw the wilted dead plants. Gardening in MT is so hard and we are always trying to eek out an extra week or 2 so this felt like a major setback. But then the most magnificent gift occurred. After dinner my husband put the littles to bed and I sat down and planted the first 2 beds. Not according to plan, however. The creative energy was flowing and the long dusk hours were spent drawing pictures in the dirt and filling the lines in with seeds until the light faded away around 9:30pm. Tomorrow we’ll be back to scraping together the immense to do list while nurturing tiny humans but I am excited to see how this experiment will turn out in the weeks to come!
