A happy story and some cute kittens from our friends at @urbanfishingcat
Yesterday we got a call about two fishing cat kittens that were found in a garden in Battaramulla. The kits were walking through a home garden with mum, when the owners of the house came outside with a cup of tea. Shocked, mum and the kits ran in two different directions.
The lost kits were retrieved by the owners of the house and taken to the Department of Wildlife Conservation (DWC), where they spent the day after being looked over for injuries.
Later on in the evening they were taken back to the location where they were found, and left in the trap cage to make sure they were safe from a very large water monitor that was eyeballing them. At around 7.30pm, the kits growling stomachs prompted them to start chirping for mum, and much to the delight of the home owner, mum started quacking back!
Carefully, the DWC handlers opened the trap door and backed away. The kittens slowly slunk out of the cage, looking left and right, until they spotted their mother sitting in some brush, before dashing towards her.
This is such a great story! Well done to all parties involved in reuniting this fishing cat family!
